Did you see that opening ceremony ?
Kind of cool, but also weird as hell. Burning olympic rings of fire were pretty damn nice ! But the parade.. ??? People dressed up in 2D clothes and bodypainted to look like ancient paintings. Very strange.

I fell asleep during that boring \"all the nations walking in\" part and missed our singer Björk :eek:

Yep, I was wathing it while painting. We have this absolutely astonishing commentator on our channel who must have a built-in Random-BS-Generator. He\'s an unbeatable master of gibberish rhetoric!
He used to comment on Euro 2004, and it was a bliss to find out he\'s going to comment on Olympics. At least it will be fun to _listen_ to the Olympics ... :)

the olympics are my favorite...i try to watch from the opening ceremonies to the closings and every single event inbetween!

so yes... i did and i loved it!
the dude walking on the cube was cool

It was interesting to note the countries I\'ve never even heard of go by.. Y\'know, the ones with only 1 or 2 athletes. Me and my mom were watching to see how many blondes wormed their way into each country, it seems only the Asian countries were safe, as Africa and parts of the Middle east had my blonde bruthas and sistas.. And I must make a mental note: It\'s Cote D\'ivorie and not the Ivory Coast anymore.. I\'ve yet to make up my mind if Bjork is a gnius or she\'s absolutly insane.. Much like me!! :p

:rolleyes:I watched a couple of hours, before I couldn’t take anymore....way to regimented, and for a minute I thought the pregnant lady was going to be a nice tribute to the future....until her belly stayed to glow.....what was with that..eeeeewww

Yeah, weird French people, Ivory Coast is a french colony, and all of the sudden it\'s name is Cote\'d Ivore..

I wouldn\'t really say she\'s a genius :rolleyes:

I was able to stomach about ten minutes of it before sticking on a DVD.

What in the name of All That Is Holy were they playing in the background...???

And Chrispy, watching satellite pictures of foreigners with your mum to see if they look like you, coupled with a belief that all blondes are your relatives clearly marks you out as a genius in my book;)

i watched it but with some zapping during the teams parade... i liked it quite enough and i think that the statue idea was pretty cool...

and we already won 2 golds!

PS I do like the swimmers though - gotta love that upper body strength :D

PPS I really do prefer the winter version (no.....not the swimming before some smart arse makes the comment)

I\'m without TV at the moment but probably wouldn\'t watch anyway.
I am disgruntled. The Olympics are meaningless.

Used to be nations would put down their arms and stop killing to spend some time reflecting on what is possible and beautiful about the human form.
We\'re still killing people, the form is sometimes freakishly overdone, and many of the events are forms of military practice.

No, finn.. spelling the words wrong automatically negates any sort of relation to said people.. It\'s just a figure of speech, you really don\'t mate with people you call mate, now? :]

I didn\'t like Bjork at all...the sone was wierd, no real melody, crazy interludes, and the singing wasn\'t that hot. And what was with her hair? It looked like a blind rastafarian did it for her.

The rest of it was cool, except for the part with the little kid kid crossing the \"sea\" in the \"paper\" boat....when he waved, with that expression on his face, I wanted to throttle the little bastard with one of the olympic rings.

Our glorious leader, has just made a statement saying that it would be good if London got the 20XX Olympics because of, \"....the legacy\". He went on to elaborate what this might mean...\'infrastructure\' and \'facilities\' were the key note.

Translation: If the Olympics came to this country we might start thinking about spending some of the billions you sad \'elfers\' pay in tax money on some of the facilities you sad gits really really need???

Hey, if we\'re lucky Wembley Stadium might even be finished by the time we get the Olympics! And we\'ve been taking the p155 out of the Greeks with our track record!
I heard somewhere that we\'ve got about 5 Olympic sized swimming pools in Britain. The French have about 30 in Paris alone!:(

Or we could spend it on helicopters nobody can fly and planes that should have gone into service nearly 10 years ago.....;)

Mind you, the Olympics originally symbolised a competitive representation of skills that were important to the nation or topical at the time....
