I\'m in desperate need of some joy. My work is nothing but people complaining, life at home is......rocky and I\'m stressed beyond belief. So tell me the story of the happiest thing that ever happened to you.
In the spirit of the thing I will tell you mine.......Well, not THE happiest but one of the best. I\'d tell you THE happiest but the time isn\'t right just now
Durring the summer between my 1st and 2nd grades I lived in a house right on the shore of Lake Michigan. We had to drive miles just to get groceries. This was back in \'66 or \'67.
One rainy day we had to drive to the grocery store to do our weekly stock-up. We all piled into the car (an old for the time ford with a metal non-padded dash board and no seat belts in the back) and set off. We made it to the store and got everything and headed back home. My brother and I we arguing in the back seat when
BAM!!!!!
Someone hit us head on and turned my world upside down.
My father almost lost a leg and my Mom\'s face was crushed and she lost an eye. The kids all ended up in a pile on the floor in the back seat, causing various wounds. I almost lost both my parents that day.
We spent time in the hospital but I ended up in a room alone being the only girl in the family. The family was split up between family members for what seemed to me like months (I later found out it was only a few weeks). No one would let me see any of the other family members and wouldn\'t give me any information on how anyone was doing.
I lived with my Father\'s family durring this time and my brother (the one I was fighting with) came to live with us after a while as well. Then my Dad showed up and that was great. But my other brother and My Mom stayed with her family and there was question as to wiether she\'d live and if she\'d be mentally there if she did.
This is all very tragic but I\'m coming to the good part. It was just after school started. I was depressed beyond belief but no one went to therapy in those days. I wanted my Mom and my Dad was being withdrawn. My brother and I had gone back to fighting all the time and I felt like the world was going to collapse on me. I made it through school when a car pulled up outside. It was my Grampa and in the car was my WHOLE FAMILY! Mom, Dad, the boys! I climbed in and we drove.......to our new house right there in town! I was within walking distance of BOTH sets of Grandparents, had my own room for the first time with new furniture and a toy kitchen set all decked out with pots and pans and everything and all my toys were there from the old house in Michigan. It was like Christmas, New Years and every other holiday all rolled into one!
In the end my Mom was fine, my brother and I still fight and all was right with the world but I\'ll never forget that day as long as I live. I\'m tearing up just thinking about it.
So what is your wonderful story?
