Temple of the Ancients

Hi guys,

This is the Temple of the Ancients, painted in dark bluish-green tones to fit with the dark and eerie statue of the Elder God. To paint this terrain I primed in black first, then did a zenith-angle prime of each part in white to create contrasting shadow areas. Once dry, each part was washed with a mix of dark blue and black ink with some matte medium, then drybrushed a bit with light gray. This was allowed to dry fully, then each part was given thin coats of a light gray paint, almost like a glaze, which created a lightening and contrast-reducing effect and reduced the harshness of the drybrushing. Edges were then painted with pure light gray and a light glaze of blue and black added a bit more color on some places and tie everything together. Cracks, dings and other details were highlighted with light gray. Hope you all like it.

Nice one, although I'd be tempted to do the engraved tiles (and only those) in exactly the same way as the statue, as if the rock came from the same quarry

I like the blue coloring. It feels as though there should be mystical pools of water at the bottom of the steps. As though the light was coming from the depths not from above.
