Terrain

I've been looking to buy some terrain for my games, something I've never owned much of in the past, and I must say there is a jungle out there. Yeah, I know I can make it myself, but I have several other projects I need to finish, so I plan to buy some for now.

Any first hand experiences or recommendations? I've found a lot that looks good, with various price levels, but it is hard to tell quality from pictures. I'm interested in 28mm, mostly semi-historical stuff (meaning steampunk and the like is okay) from 1600 to modern times.

Also, something I didn't find yet is a nice, modular canal.

I have heard good things about Micro Art Studios terrain for their Volsung Line (steampunky victorian era)

A canal isn't something I've seen either,BUT it's not something that would be too hard to build yourself.
Cork tile (4mm) lengths on either side of a length of Strene sheet 4-6 inches wide could easily be worked to represent Canals.
(I'm fortunate in that I included a sunken canal in the city board I built a few years ago using 18 mm MDF Boards.)

I checked them out, Yuggoth - they have some nice stuff. A bit more 'scenery' than terrain out, but I've made a note to get some stuff there later.

I've considered that, DR. Bet I can find several good tutorials for that as well. I'd be really interested in seeing your city board - if I search your WIP, will I see it there?

Seems like what I want the most, are simple walls (both high and low) that come in sections, and look generic enough to be used for everything from fantasy to sci-fi. I see there are many many such items out there, though.

Me? A WIP? Better odds on hell freezing over!
I tend to "lock on" when I'm painting and forget all about photographs.

Having said that I'm planning (only just planning mind you) to try and do a one for the figure I'm going to be doing for Crystella33.
As to the City Board well I'm printing out self adhesive street and pavement updates for it, so photos might just happen.

I bought a huge (4x6) city a few years back on eBay. Here are some pictures:

This was made with foam board and looks and works great. I used it for Warzone and occasionally for Necromunda. I have switched to Deadzone and don't use it much know.

you could make this stuff.
