Testors Spray Enamel Primer

I just bought a small can of that stuff, Flat Gray Primer 1237... anyone know anything about it?

Also, Testors Dull Cote which everyone uses is 1260, right?

I finally used this. And its true, it does go on a bit heavy. With my GW primer, I kind of slowly sweep over the mini. But this stuff is also semi-glossy, so maybe hte gloss may have exaggerated the wetness.

Overall, I like it. Its a lighter grey color, semi glossy, spray passes should be faster than typical GW cans.

dont know about the primer but I\'m interested, dull coat is 1260 YES

I\'ve used the primer and it\'s very good if you don\'t use too much.

righto, Ill be sure to test mine and watch for overspray! But, what is too much? Should I spray past the mini faster than I would with GW primer?

It\'s just thicker. It\'s not as matte either.

I haven\'t tried the Testor\'s, but if you want a grey primer, you might want to try the Duplicolor gray primer. $5 for a large can at an auto parts store. Goes on very smoothly. The white is comparable to the Model Master primer (another Testor line) that I was using previously.

Ya duplicolor is the BEST. I go through like 3 cans a month of this stuff.

So I\'ve been actually painting on all my Testor\'s primed stuff...

I\'ve always painted over black primer, so maybe this is why I\'ve noticed...

But it seems that everything starts off very slippery. My basecoats don\'t really stick or show up until after a few coats. Say I take slightly thinned green, and paint over the grey, its like Im painting on a freshly waxed car, the paint kinda goes where it pleases, and its not until I paint over a few layers that it behaves nicely at all....

could it be something I just dont normally see with black primer? or is it meant for other types of paints?
