Dangerous when wet
Hey,

This was a mini that I painted for my sister's wedding as a gift. It was such a pleasure to paint for someone i love like this. I think that's why it remains one of my favourite projects ever, even though compositionally I'd tweak it if I were to do it again. I'd love to know what you think now i've got some big clear images up on my blog.

Looks great and I love the water effects. I'm sure your sister and brother in law will love this as a gift.

I couldn't really read the script at the bottom though, the font is not very readable though it could be just the photo. What is it suppose to say?

@Eggroll, you're quite right, it's not particularly readable, it says 'Tharanduil' (I thought I'd go with the classic option ;) ) Thank you!

@Mickc22 - Thank you fella :) it's a piece of clear plastic (GW blister pack) superglued at the top and the bottom, and coated in many many layers of vallejo water effects. The drip at the bottom of the 'fall is a small piece of fibre optic cable, again coated in water effects. It turned out better than I was expecting it to tbh, you can't see the 'supports' now unless you look very closely and know what you're looking for. I'll be using this method again I think!

yeah it came out a treat, I might have put a little 'white water' at the bottom of the fall
fibre optic? not a bit expensive? I use the clear beading wire* for necklace/ jewelry making

I love the Vallejo WE, I made a wave with it on a 25mm base just as a practice, got it to stand up about 10mm or so and still had breaking nicely. I also use it for making icicles too



*it's more like fishing line actually

Yup, it's great stuff, better than other makes I've tried. The fibre optic cable I had lying around. Barrule.com do it for 10p/20cm or so, I know thats a lot compared to fishing line, but I had it there anyway, and I used less than half a centimetre, so I'm not overly fussed cost wise :)

As for white water, yes that would be a good idea. Sadly, when I made this it was my first try ever with water effects, and I was feeling my way through it. If I did it again I'd definately add some 'splash' down the bottom, it'd feel more dynamic that way.

you want to grab hold of the Woodland Scenics terrain manual, there's a really good technique for waterfalls in it. Apart from all the other things, it's not too expensive
