Reminds me of the dentata in "Snow Crash."

Didn't work out perfectly in the book either, actually. I'm still convinced that the best protection against rape has something to do first with social avoidance and then good self-defense combat skills.

Unfortunately, social problems can (almost?) never be counteracted by purely technological means. YT's needle-bearing dentata worked way too fast for any realistic sedative, in real life an attacker would have more than enough time to respond, likely with severe violence :(

Also, bleeding penis = increased risk of HIV etc. transmission :( :(

I have to point out that this comment comes across with some blinkered steroetyping of rape victims and rape situations.

Sorry, Mike, but I fit a different stereotype.

The first PD I worked at had a rape defense program that taught this, which is where I got it.

Social avoidance involves a lot. Sometimes avoiding rape means not drinking at a party; sometimes it means not walking alone at night; sometimes it means leaving your husband and going to a shelter he doesn't know about.

If you can't avoid this, if you just don't see it coming, sometimes the only option you have to avoid rape is to beat the hell out of the guy until you have the opportunity to run for your life. Our cops volunteered to dress up in padded suits as practice dummies for the ladies for this part of the class, and the bruises were worn with pride.

I know this obviously doesn't work in all situations. Sometimes a woman has no community support to hide her away, and sometimes she has the safety of children to worry about. Sometimes she's a minor being assaulted by an older relative. I get that, and it may not surprise you that I'm involved in programs to address this right now. But, at least when I was with the police program as a young guy, 90% of rapes were against adult women by a man they knew during a social situation, and the chances of the attack dropped dramatically when the strategies taught by our program were employed.

See if I can put this delicately................was an attempted rape here and let's just say that the rapist probably isn't real pleased with the good quality of the intended victim's dental work.

Gawd... that's an eye-wateringly dreadful invention! I seriously hope it never gets used in a 'woman scorned' situation!

Who thinks this stuff up!!
