The Best of... Nominate your favorite.

Ok, here's my idea.

Just for fun, how about I come up with a new thread on a semi-regular basis.

Each time, we discuss 'nominiations' for the best sculpt of a certain type of miniature.

For instance, we could say "BEST ORC".

Then for a week or so, we take the nominations (by users posting an image), and then have an informal poll to determine the 'BEST of....'

It would be based solely on the sculpt or kit, not someones paint or conversion job.

Other than sharing our favorites, and possible discovering new ones, there's no purpose to this, besides something to do...


Does this sound like something you'd like to play along?

Ideas or suggestions wouldn't be ignored either....

I think this is a great idea - very much in line with what this place should most be about - but I have a reservation...

Problem is won't this tend to come down to the quality of the photo/presentation? If some submissions are just shots of primed castings (or even bare castings) and some are posted as full paintups, particularly really good ones, it makes it hard to compare objectively.

I agree, it's definately going to be more subjective rather than objective, but it sounds fun, and I agree....It's more in line on what I'd expect if I came to this site for the first time.

I think I'll start one. We can always tweak it on subsequent efforts.

I agree too but I also like how 10 Ball posted a pics of painted and unpainted. If not both, I'd rather see unpainted at the very least because even the best sculpt can look like crap with craptastic finishwork. ;)

Now, to figure out best horse. lol!

Yep, ideally that is exactly what we want. Details of the model and maker. Nothing converted, painted is fine, although we are just looking at the model.

it will be interesting to see how many post we get when the catagory is best female. may need to break it up into best female sci-fi, best female fantasy and best female steam punk, ect
