The Big Office Sort Out

Ok, it's not a mini but is related! I'm lucky enough to be able to have a third bedroom that I've setup as a small office. However in true form, over the past year+ I've let it get a right tip and couldn't work in it if my life depended upon it. So in an effort to get more things painted this year I'm tackling the challenge head on and sorting out the office.

Here is the state of things on Saturday morning... (this was AFTER I'd moved all the paperwork on the floor)

Well Saturday saw most of the floor cleared, but the light wasn't good enough to take an update pic. The above were taken on my phone as I didn't know where my camera was...

Wouah, are you still painting there? At least if you let drop a some paint you should not worry it will not reach the carpet anytime soon!
I think I saw your camera under the box on the left of the picture ;)
Good luck

Haha this thread is refreshing!! Start by taking all your big boxes out, Dreadfleet for example and pile them up outside for the time being. Then take all your smaller boxes (regiments etc) and pile them next to the big boxes so you can see a little clearer. Im looking forward to seeing the end result ha

Oh boy... this makes me feel a whoooooole lot better about my messy cupboard where some mini's are gathering dust on top of... :D

@Boubi - Nope, not managed to paint in there for a loooong time. I've one of the GW new style "lap" painting stations and use that whilst sat on the sofa. The last time I managed to sit at the computer was around October *shame face*.

@Drunken Elf - The floor (thankfully), is completely clear now and all boxes located into one of the two cupboards (or on top in the case of Dreadfleet). But I pretty much did as you suggested - the other half wasn't too amused that I'd moved them into our bedroom, especially as she'd not long ago moved Dreadfleet from the bedroom to the office...

@Meph - I've got (had) two of those as well. Cleared out a stack of boxes and mini's for eBay so that eased the situation in the main modelling cupboard. I've also discovered that my attic is huge and could easily be converted into "overflow" ;)

@MightyChad - Erm, honest estimation to get to the state above is about 5 hours. However in my defence that did include sorting all of the paperwork and shredding as necessary

Well, that sort of activity tends to take the longest. My painting area would take much longer! Good luck, I can't say mine is better, and I am much less motivated to clean it up!

@MightyChad - Agreed, that five hours was for the preliminary sort out of what I need and what I didn't. I still need to actually sort out the stuff I've kept as I'm sure I don't need payslips from 4 years ago :D

@Cassar - I was shocked when I discovered there was carpet there - I thought it would have long ago walked off in protest!

So here's the state of the office as of last night (well technically Saturday evening) - I even used the vacuum  I'm hoping to start to go through one of the desks tonight...

Lol, photoshop was very tempting though I think I might not have got away with it (unless I'd printed out something large enough to cover the door frame to make it look like I'd sorted everything!). The spare room has taken a bit of a battering as it now contains all of the bits that I want to ebay this weekend :) I'll take a pic of the landing to prove it's clear :p

Desk tidy was a lot less hassle than I thought!

I'm toying with the idea of putting a small fish tank in the back corner else it does tend to become a dumping ground for stuff as it's too far back to actually reach anything, and I'd like to move some of the bits around so that I can put in a paint holder of some kind. The nicest thing is that the other half was sorting out the Tesco order so I had some spare time and was able to get a mates shadowsword out that I've had for months and do some more work on that.

If you're going to put fish there in the corner, try to find one with an accusing stare. It'll help to motivate you.

Lol, that's awesome :D Most likely be a shoal of Galaxy Rasbora with a load of shrimp - it's not going to be Neon Tetra, the ones I've got in the big tanks are actually quite scary if you look at them face on!

Not got much done in the office due to ending up having other gubbins to do, with luck will sort out the computer desk tomorrow which will mean that it's fully up and functioning for me to actually get something done over the weekend.
