Here\'s a good little story, something out of the ordinary that happened to me, and made me feel great.
When i was flying home on leave from the army a couple weeks ago, i stopped to grab a bite to eat. I went into one of those cheesy airport restaurants with the over priced food, and drink. So, i sat down, alone and ordered a meal, nothing too exciting, a burger a fries and a coke. Well, the service was particularly nice, and after i finished the meal, i asked the waitress for the check. She then told me that, someone had payed the tab for me, and told her to tell me, thanks for my service. I was totaly taken aback. It felt really good to know that a total stranger appreciates what i do enough, to spend their hard earned money in order to show their gratitude.
But, it gets better.
I finally board the plane, and am greeted by the captain, with a really friendly \"Hey man! whats up?\" So, i step to the side, and shoot the shit with him for a few, and go and sit in my seat. a Few min later, i see the capt walking down the isle, shutting the overhead storage compartments...In my mind, im thinking..why is he walking around doing that? As he walks by me, he bumps into me and mumbles \"i\'ve got a seat in first class for you\"...my first thought was, he\'s not talking to me, so i just stayed where i was. Well, on his pass back to the front of the plane, he again bumps me, very hard, and says this time, out loud..\"Lets go!\" So i get my bag, and next thing i know, im flying first class. Well, it turns out he\'s a Sergent in the national guard, so, he saw me in uniform, and helped me out.
Got to say, the whole thing surprised me, people really treat you well when you\'re in uniform, its a good feeling and really makes serving all worth it.
