The Devil Dogs Project, by marlow

project log of the last year of my life, inspired by the last 16 years of involvement in a certain hobby and 2 years in the middle east, starts off with not a model, but a piece of artwork made upon discharge from the hospital, launching the spirit of the project.

2 american pennies to anyone who can correctly guess the technique, and apologies for the size; I have found I am more adept at files and greenstuff and books than at computers.

Spray paint on plywood?

As an aside, where did you spend your time - the Ashcan or the Sandbox?

Hard to guess the technique without seeing the actual texture of it...
I don't know how to correctly translate it to English though. 'Zeefdruk' in dutch, 'Screenprint' in Tinglish? Hmmm but it is rather large for home-brewn Screenrpint... plain ol' graffiti spraycans?

Anywhoooo, looks great! And that's rather a nice size ey, would look good on any wall me thinks.

Hi, It looks great, did You painted this with airbush / spray + acrylic paints? If not that then I have no idea, helmet looks like from comic book, it's very interesting.

spraypaints were involved, but my hands aren't as steady as others. I would have to cheat, and a lot. As I post more pics, some of that cheating will become apparent. But it's how a guy who's a rod monochromat with gorilla hands gets a straight edge and a little bit of detail. Can it be applied to models with a little ingenuity and patience? Maybe, maybe not. And don't get me wrong, this isn't magic, I'm sure I'll disappoint someone; but maybe I'll impress someone else!

@SandRat - USMC 0302 w/ 5th, got to see phantom fury; and that's the most i'll ever say about that

now here's a hint

That's the majority. That and a metric ton of cutting out all those edges and cuts and scratches with a scalpel. I suppose the fricking can of spray paint is a give-away; it was meant to be there simply for scale. Few other details but meh.

I have new Devil Dogs pics, but I can't resize upsize downsize internet doohickeys for the life of me. it's easier to upload on Dakka. forgive me for being lazy. here's a link
