christ, in the uk a lot of people are only one step away from being legalized slaves we have so few actual rights left.

Come on, that\'s a slight exaggeration... Not that I\'m really right-wing or anything, but I think this country is pretty good compared to a lot of the rest of the world. People here have plenty of rights.

Trouble is, people have the right and the freedom to be thick. Because the rich companies - the small percentage of people who own a large percentage of the wealth - use their products to brainwash the population, people are more interested in reality TV and hairstyles than their rights. Almost nobody uses their rights to change things in the country, as they could. All very convenient for the rich people (many of whom just happen to be politicians) who want the poor to stay poor...

people with money using the power it brings to get the politicians to always benefit them and not the poor (read people who work for a living and not directors or politicians) have always done this.
it won\'t change, as politicians do not wish it to change.

and we do have less rights now.
free speach, protests etc, a thing of the past.
they can actualy use the 42 day detention law to hold people as long as they (yes, the politicians) agree it is terrorism.
what is terrorism, it\'s what they decide it is.
they can (and garauntee they will) use it too quiten any one who openly speaks out against them or the companies that they have strong links with.

seems far fetched doesn\'t it.

Fair point on the detention laws, and of course there are loads of other shite things like that around. But since when has free speech/protest been a thing of the past? ??? If you were a Chinese citizen writing this sort of thing in China, your post would be censored. The right to freedom of speech is one we definitely have left. Stop being so cynical! ;)

i agree that i am a realy cynical bugger nowadays, unfortunately due to seeing how things will go due to politicians actions, and then things happening as i saw them.

your bang on about things not being as bad at the moment as i make out.

I suppose it\'s a matter of what we\'ve grown up with.

Sacrificing small, unnoticed freedoms isn\'t really all that big of a deal...it just happens so gradually.

One minute we are throwing firecrackers at each other, and shooting our guns in the air, the next we are living in a commune with only Soylent Green to nourish us.

I guess both of you are right in some points.

Living in Europe gives us some privileges on our freedom. You can be as cynical as you want, no one will bother you.
And if they do you simply go to a newspaper and see how soon they stand at your door with flowers saying: \"we are sorry, plz correct your story in public...\"

In other countries you would be silenced in many possible ways for simply saying something wrong. If you ever get enough information to recognize that there\'s something wrong. Because journalists that want to tell the truth are killed in other places.

On the other hand people often don\'t use their rights as they should in Europe. Take polls for instance! The increasing amount of people not going voting. Here in Austria the nonvoters are the third strongest party....Thats a very sad tendency.

But of course its easier to stay home and watch your soaps or films than lift of your couch and decide something for yourself. And just there we loose our freedom, cause politics think we are not capable of doing the right thing ourselves.

What about climate change necroghast!? Save energy!
Think about the sad penguins sitting in the near future on a nacked rock in the middle of the ocean, because the ice melted away. Doesn\'t that make you feel responsible?

So go turn of that switch! lol
