HAHAHAHAHA....I love it
Typical post High school nerd/geek behavior.
Is it me or do a lot of people have problems coping with past injustices done to them during school years due to being a monster nerd.:D
I used to know a fella who would actually complain that people with menial jobs should know thier place when dealing with another person of intelligence or better yet my favorite line from a smart nerd \"only 25% of this world has any brains the other 75% are just plain stupid\" I had asked him if he was in the smart group that amazing echelon of intelligence and for that matter where was I. He of course stuttered out non commital responses till i calmed him down.

So for all you guys and gals who where menaced by others for being physically weak or meek(or outnumbered.some bullies are total cowards)and for those who couldnt get dates or were sneered at because you didnt fit the bill when it came to looking good....all i can say is LIGHTEN UP!

here, let me start with a small flame, a candle flame if you will :D

I for one am a geek, but guess what... I\'m a jock too. I work out 4 times a week for the past 3 years, i wheigh in at about 90 kilos ( 1m80 tall, yes slightly too much for my height but I\'m big boned ;) ). I\'m even that big a geek that i\'m opening my own store, but does that make me a \"lesser person\" for actually remembering how people treated me for having this hobby? And now enjoying the fact that I\'ve come farther than they have? Even \"smart\" people laughed at me sometimes, saying that I should stick to my \"toy soldiers\", when they went to college, because they thought i was stupid for not studying after I graduated from high school. Sad thruth is, my parents couldn\'t afford college and if I took a job to pay for school, I wouldn\'t have the time to study.
If it\'s wrong to laugh at their misery now, because they had to drop out or repeat the same year 4 times in a row, well then I\'m the king of wrong, because for the last 2 years I\'ve been laughing my @ss off lol

Sandwiches

Do you know anyone who\'s ever played Role Master? I have a vague recollection of some bloke to whom we gave the name \'Sandwiches\' (because he actually did smell of tuna/cheese sarnies) playing a game where you had to make a safety/incident roll on percentile dice even if you farted, just in case you blew up! Well, maybe not exactly, but isn\'t this the kind of gaming nightmare us normal people have more often than not chosen to avoid? I do remember Role Master was quite a good system, only the people who played it made it look like a rule-a-thon! Imagine...

\"I\'m going to pick up the stick.\"

OKAY, BUT WE NEED TO CHECK IF ANYTHING UNTOWARD HAPPENS, SO ROLL YOUR PERCENTILE DICE.

*dice rolls*

\"I rolled two zeroes.\"

OKAY...THINGS ARE LOOKING BAD. YOUR PC SEEMS TO HAVE SLIPPED ON A WET TREE ROOT, IMPALING HER EYES ON A HAZEL SAPLING. TAKE 3 POINTS OF DAMAGE AND FOLLOW THE RULES FOR BLINDNESS (WHICH I INCIDENTALLY MADE UP LAST WEEK...)

\"Okay...\"

*collective sigh of relief from the rest of the PC party as the last person to try picking up the stick ended up slipping through a wormhole onto the set of Friends.......aaaaaaaaarrrrgggghHH!!!!!!*

You know what I\'m saying?

Well my belgian friend it seems you have made my case for me...ever hear of being the better person? All your statment points at that not being the case you are as petty as your peers in times past.
And that you are now an example of the forementioned typical post school nerd I can say that to delight in others misery is wrong even if they had caused you misery in the past so man YOU ARE THE KING OF WRONG. Im just kidding im pretty sure (hopefully?) that you know your just posting goofy humor and not the truth.

BTW good for you that you havent consigned yourself to being a fat body. Fat is not beautiful especially with so many of my own fat friends getting type 2 diabeties.

I do remember Role Master, Reverend, and its psuedonym - \"rollmaster\" I bet that\'s the origin for the term \"roll player\". This of course has little to do with your post, though; which is, as always, insightfull and pointed. Thank you. :wow::cool:

Paleotaur - you know the worst thing of all? I was a wannabe! I\'d always loved Fantasy and all that, and though I\'d played D&D and WFRP along with other board games, I\'d always wanted to become really deeply involved in the whole genre and play every week without fail...but I was just too normal to do it! But painting...now there\'s something.

Great article Otter. I would LOVE to see the gamer community escape this stigma. I believe that the majority of gamers are well adjusted.

Unfortunately, the majority of gamers who are well-adjusted don\'t play at game stores (or don\'t for very long). I\'ve started games at stores, but after 1 or 2 sessions someone always says \"let\'s meet at my house\". It\'s so much easier, nicer, and more convenient.

I\'m not anyones mother, I don\'t have time to teach people the manners/social graces that their parents didn\'t. Not that my groups are all peachy-keen, but at least we have a modicum of respect for each other.

I have no reason to play a game at a smelly game store around a bunch of loud mouth jerks. I feel for the employees, it\'s tough to keep a store clean when you have people in and out leaving messes all day. I feel for them because they can\'t tell the loud mouth jerks to quiet down or find a table in another section because \"they\'ve been coming here for 12 years and that\'s where they always play\" (yes, actual quote, despite the fact we were there first and there were plenty of open tables, they set up around us, even moving one guys minis off a table and putting them on another, empty, table so they could use THAT table).

I looked into starting my own gaming store (and I have 6 stores in my area already), but quite honestly my money is better invested somewhere else (or at least not in a \"typical\" game store). If a store owner actually stood up to these \"gamer funk\" types, they may actually make MORE money from those people the \"gamer funk\" scares away. I actually saw a post from someone (I know, a link would be nice, but I can\'t remember where) who took over a game store and cancelled EVERYONES discounts, turned out that the biggest complainers had the biggest discounts and also BOUGHT VERY LITTLE. They were also the people who were hanging out the most, when they took their \"business\" elsewhere it turned out to be the best move he made.

Don\'t cry for him. Reread his posts, he\'s been trollin\' in all of them on this thread. Nice that he calls us intolerant and then spews his own intolerance.

Thanks Dragon Snack, I know, I was just trying to take the high road, sort of.;) :innocent:That is sort of what aggrevates me about him.
Let me put it this way. We all know that \"intolerence\" is bad, but I\'d have to say that there are many things that we should be intolerent of. For example, should we tolerate child abuse? I\'m pretty sure that all of us here would say no. In the sme vein, if we tolerate the display of weapons for the purpose of intimidation/foolish bravado this society will go downhill at a rate exponentially faster than it already is plummetting. This is why we have laws.
All that is obvious and clear. To extend the analogy, we also have cultural mores for similar reasons. These are a little more grey and hence, trickier to deal with on a moral/ethical level. Generally speaking, however, the majority of us know when someon has crossed the line and done something truly offensive which should not be tolerated. Yes, we all experienced the persecution when we were younger that has been refered to here, and yes we all deserve some sympathy for that suffering. This, however, does not excuse reprehensible behavior that not only causes the general public to stereotype all gamers as socially inept savages, but can also cause seerious discomfort and possible serious physical harm to other people such as Otter. Most of the gamers who were subject to persecution when we were younger have been able to move past it, these few should not be allowed to ruin that for us.
:gets off soap box::D

Some of it is true, I do have a killer body :D
But alas I WAS bullied (written correctly or is it unpernouncable?), but frankly I didn\'t care what those people thought, never did, never will and frankly I don\'t give a goblin\'s ass (again a geeky pun, are we seeing a pattern here) about what They are doing right now.

*edit* I just find it wrong that people make fantasy and sci-fi gamers stereotypical of the fat comic geezer from the simpsons
