HUGE BET Dammekkos2, (by my standards anyway). The odds on Hedgehunter were never better than 6-1 on the day..... so you must have put on at least £160 each way. £320 in total to have made a profit of £80.
Nice one. Makes my £5 on him to win look puny!
Yes indeed, it was quite a rush. Normally when I make a bet I check the result after the event, but this time I watched. I think most of the thrill was the anticipation of
not winning (which would have been disasterous), but also feeling that I had outsmarted the bookies (winning £50 on a 10-1 always feels like luck, this gave me a feeling of superiority, which is probably undeserved as my mate Paul actually picked the bet, he manages a William Hill and we went halfs).
Did the same on Joe Calzaghe a couple of months ago, the return was even less than this bet, but felt ok. I think the Gods of chance are smiling on me this year, I have also won two of the four monthly poker games we\'ve had so far, though that\'s mainly down to my awesomeness with cards. I\'m glad I don\'t have time for net poker, I think I\'d have some serious problems by now, I get hooked easily. I\'m waiting for the world cup before I lay out again.
