The Greatest Jedi of Them All

Well the latest greatest poll I have going on the ZaphBlog is about Jedi. Yeah that\'s right. I have taken the 6 most prolific Jedi and made it so that YOU decide who was the best...

The Greatest Jedi Ever

It is a tough question to be sure, and it is hard to leave a hatred of Liam Neeson out of the mix, but I digress...

They all suck.

I can\'t remember now where I read about how the jedi were psychological/emotional criples because of their devotion to reason and how balance in the force would mean a more balanced person.
It was a nice essay. I like the idea that Sith give in too much to their emotions and jedi not enough.

That leaves Luke as the best, I guess, because he finally was a person who could have jedi powers and emotionally bond with friends and family without flipping out and killing everyone.

If only he weren\'t such a whiny brat you keep wanting to slap.

Now that is tough...

Luke Skywalker is too damn whiny to be a proper choice (although he did toughen up and become cool by the 6th movie)

Mace Windu (definate bad ass attitude, he is cool, but just not enough of him to make him a contender)

Obi-Wan Kenobi (becomes a little bit of a stodgy teacher by the 2nd film) although his battle with Darth Maul made the first film, he still gets beat by Vader, twice.

Qui-gon Jinn. Definately a rebel, but with that terrible explanation of Midichloreans, and the fact that the only good part in Phantom Menace comes after he dies...no vote here.

Yoda. Hmm backwards talk he does. Wars do not make one great, but his role was almost too comedic when he started the lightsaber duel with Dooku.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Seeing how the entire Star Wars saga is basically his story, and he\'s got his own theme music. Erase the terrible Phantom menace actor and this guy is cool. Especailly when he starts to turn, and wipes out the Sand People. YAY. But, ultimately it is Vader/Skywalker who DOES bring balance to the force by elimating the Emporer so he gets my vote.

FUN poll Zaph!

Mace Windu all the way. With Darth Maul coming in a close second. Because its Samuel L. Jackson.nuff said.

He was robbed in that lightsaber duel I tell you. Robbed!!!

Luke hands down, not only because he\'s the last one standing, but if you read the Dark Horse comics he takes out an AT-AT with the wave of a hand.
In the comics he\'s a bad-ass, the books do wussify him though.

Reminded me of a guy I knew who was into martial arts (forget which one) and went to a mixed-stiles tournament. He was up against a Tai Kwon Do fighter. The TKD guy kept trying roundhouse kicks and my friend punched him in the back. My friend was disqualified, but he had a point. Why would you turn your back on your opponent? Half the time Yoda was facing the other way.

I voted for Obi-Wan by the way. I take Sir Alec Guiness over Samuel L. Jackson any day. And Vader didn\'t beat him twice: the second time Ben turned off the sabre - he knew what would happen and Vader was totally baffled.
(although Luke did have the special power of granting ghost bodies to anyone who died in front of him....)

Ebon... the poll is about Jedi, not Sith :D

I agree about Anakin. He restored balance to the Force, where the whiney Luke failed. It\'s funny, but all of the Skywalkers were headstrong and impulsive except Leia. I think Luke had ADD.

That about sums it up, I\'d say. Half way through his training, he leaves, and once I am pretty sure he was trying to use the old Jedi mind trick,

LUKE: These are not the droids...hey look I found a quarter!! I like fish. Didja see my new green colored light sabre.

At least that is how I remember it happening.

I\'m sorry, but when Yoda started doing his thing in that fight against Dooku, I\'ve never heard an audience go nuts like that for any of the other battles...

You are so right! The audience went crazy for that part. It was extremely fun. The last time I saw an audience get that excited Christopher Reeve was beating up on General Zod in Superman 2 (hey that doesn\'t show my age, does it?)

Cool poll Glyn.

Since this was involving only Jedi from the movies I would have to go with Luke, Because he ultimately brought balance to the force, reformed the Jedi, and helped redeem Vader.
