The 'Grey Knight' airbrush sword effect . . . With a brush.

Hello there people!

I quite like this new-fandangled effect, but do not own a swish airbrush . . . . So I tried with a brush. Ideally they could be more blue than white, but do you think it works? What could I do to improve it? 1st & 2nd attempt here:

I'd suggest watering down your paints a little more. The effect is all about a smooth transition and lots of subtle layers is the best way to achieve that with paint and brush.

Looks pretty smooth colour transition wise to me . . . Ah, to have a better eye

The ratio I used was 3-4 water to 1 paint . . . Should I go more?

I agree it is a smooth transition. With swords and that airbrush effect though, the texture is so important that if it starts getting some pigment bumps or visible strokes from the paint, it needs to be watered down more.

For swords I usually use 1 part paint and then 5-8 parts water depending on the color (larger the range between colors, the more I water it down).

Cool, I see what you mean now about piggie bumps, they annoy the hell out of me, could not work out what causes them . . . . The top model has been stripped and repainted twice, which doesn't help!!!
