Put your thinning water or thinning mix (flow improver etc...) in a dropper bottle. Then you are sure it is clean water and you have control over the amount. I have two, one with mix, one with plain water. Both lifted from my wife\'s esential oil/bach flower essences (boiled and washed with much detergent).
On to the superglue in cuts thing, at York District Hospital they were using tubes of superglue from a £1 shop in the Accident & Emergency department (10 little tubes for £1, 10p each). They got stopped and were forced to buy the medical stuff at 200x the cost! The Nurse that fixed me said the cheap stuff worked better and had fewer secondary infections!

yeah thats the nhs for you.
i agree with both shawn and dr about brushes. i think for the bulk of work, cheap stuff is ok (i am only now coming to the death of a gw crappy brush), but you need to fork out for a good detail brush. bear in mind when buying detail brushes, you need a fine tip, doesn\'t matter what size it is. my best detail brush is a 0, the 000 that i have isn\'t as good
also don\'t underestimate the ability of brush soap to extend the working life of a brush

STICKY IT!
Just to cover that blurt,
1. never throw old paint pots away (even the Vallejo one\'s). They are good for keeping mixes in (once clean). I have my scenic fixative (PVA water and a spot of brown ink) in a vallejo bottle, easy applicator
2. basecoat with the biggest brush available and practical. You always get the cleanest and smoothest basecoat. I always use a size 3 with a nice tip (an inexpensive one).
3. never paint for more than 45min without a break, even a walk to the kettle or a stretch! That is enough to freshen you brain and painting hand (and stretch out your body).
Thats it for now...

Save some of the lids from your paints when you throw the jar/tube away. Comes in handy when one disappears.

tear off a small amount of wet and dry sandpaper and superglue it to the end of a cocktail stick. is great for getting at tricky mouldlines/defects (thanks anders!!)

do not put turps in a contact lens bottle, it will melt it!
