And the pendulum swinds back...
Potter... Catholics... Children\'s books... Christians... Fantasy reading... Religion...
I really screwed up when I named this thread (which I have re-named TWICE, to no avail!). I don\'t care what people talk about, but this thread is suffering from extreme multiple-personality disorder. lol
The only thing that bothers me is some people\'s attitude that they are \'children\'s\' books, and that implies a person needs a \'simple\' mind to enjoy them? ???
What makes a children\'s book a children\'s book, exactly? I still enjoy Gulliver\'s travels, and try to catch
Charlotte\'s Web or
A Cricket in Times Square when the animated versions are on.
I read technical manuals all the time, and the scientific journal, so I don\'t think I\'m an idiot for enjoying Potter. I had a subscription to Omni magazine when I was only 12, and have read Heinlen, Asimov, Herbert, Niven, etc... all very heavy science-based science fiction. But I also still like comic books, not because they are realistic, but because I ENJOY them.
Does it really matter what people read as long as it\'s enjoyable? I even get a kick out of bathroom wall graffitti!
Back to potter... I\'m up to page 150 something... still waiting for something really good to happen...
