Okay, finally read it.
*RAB - I agree with you all. Slughorn liked him. Said he\'d have loved to have had \"the pair\" but didn\'t seem too disappointed with the one he got. Plus, it never says how RB died, just that he was a deatheater and he died. My theory: the potion killed him just as it was killing bigD.
- S, who \"knows more about the dark arts than anyone\" and whom bigD insisted Harry get rather than Pomphrey, knew what had happened when he saw bigD and knew bigD was dying.
*The Bad Guy - Just as bigD had made Harry promise to do things, he probably made S promise in a certain situation to do a certain thing.
- Note also that bigD, who trusted S implicitly, ordered the other teachers to patrol the halls while he was away, but S got to stay in his office.
- As someone pointed out, S not only didn\'t kill Harry, he teaches him how to win as he runs away: block your mind and use nonverbals you stupid twit! In fact, S\'s explanation in the beginning of the book would not explain why he didn\'t let Quarel kill Harry in the first book during the quiddich game. S keeps saving Harry. Not killing him under bigD is one thing, but actively interfering to save his life (no other teacher was helping) is another.
- S prevents Malf from doing something terrible, thus sacrificing himself to save Malf.
- One final thing, Harry says bigD trusted S because S was remorseful for having caused the deaths of folks he knew. When has Harry ever rightly interpreted people\'s motivations? BigD said S was sorry for it, but didn\'t say that\'s why he trusted S.
*Polyjuice - I disagree. Malf was Malf. bigD would have known if he were S and S would not have reacted that way.
*Ending - kinda lame I agree, especially the Ginny part. If the school closes, where will the kids go? Why did they cancel exams? If my headmaster had died we still would have had our exams.
