The Hogfather... timely reminder ;)

Just on the off-chance you may have forgotten....

The Hogfather, Sky 1, 8pm Sunday and 2nd part 8pm Monday. I\'m looking forward to this. Apparently, Sky 1\'s most expensive production at 6 million quid! Hopefully it\'s gonna be good :)

Saw part of the \"making of \" special on Sky, looks as if it could be OK(+).
(Terry Pratchett is playing the Toymaker).

I hope it works as, so far, the animations haven\'t worked for me as I miss the narration done in the books.

I have a suspicion that even with a budget of 60 million quid Sky would be incapable of making an even remotely classy program, but you never know.

It\'s produced by the team behind Dream Team which doesn\'t bode too well for it.

Death\'s daughter looks pretty cute though!

I\'d rather they tried than not... proof will be in watching I guess :D

im listening to the audio book after friend pointed it out and its quite good put i dont understand bits have to rewind and listen again terry pratchet is very clever compared to me

Iv never read any of the books, but i have read a few of the graphic novel versions, he is very imaginative to say the least!

it doesn\'t look very much like i imagined the diskworld. :(

and death looks like some scream reject :(

and i don\'t have sky :)

always a silver lining. :D

Theres some things you just can\'t express with film and Terrys stuff is one of them in imo. Saying that i will be watching it out of curiosity.....like one of them curious squid

Whatever Sky do it will never be anywhere near as good as the books. Of course, I could just be bitter as I don\'t have Sky :no: However, the way that Terry Pratchett\'s mind works is amazing. He seems to have an incredible depth of knowledge about practically everything and the ability to turn it on its head. I had the good fortune to meet him once when he was signing copies of The Fifth Elephant. I asked him to sign the book to me and my wife and gave him the Pllish spelling - he then told me how part of that book was based on the the Polish Salt mines, Sto Lat is named after a Polish folk song (their version of For He\'s a Jolly Good Fellow) etc etc. As you can probably tell, I\'m a bit of a fan :duh:

Pratchett is a dude :D

I\'m looking forward to watching it- but with a slight degree of trepidation...

Especially now that I know the production team are from that steaming pile of **** Dream team...

If it DOES turn out to be good though, I would like to see \"Guards Guards!\" next (My favourite book so far)

Hopefully I\'ll be watching it in HD goodness - I\'ve set it to record so lets cross fingers :D

I have high hopes that it will be better than the animations, which really didn\'t do it for me. I watched the making of, which did seem more promising. Mr Teatime looks particularly disturbing.

What did you think?

I actually thought it was well done. The second half was better than the first, with more of the humour coming across. On the whole, not bad at all :)

Bugger - I missed the second half (I\'ve already read it - but I\'d LIKE to see it tho)

Anyone know if it\'s repeated...? (I doubt it)

But the first one was pretty good - I liked the way the guy who played Mr. Te-a-tim-e and his wierd laugh :p

And Death actually seemed pretty good to me - although I agree - he doesn\'t look good in the static pics - Animated he\'s much better.

Its being repeated xmas day and boxing day.

I thought it was ok, but was a bit long for my taste. Although festive it wasn\'t the best of his books, and I thought personally it could have been cut to half the time

Agree with you there Shaz although I did enjoy it the length could have been cut but then sometimes when they cut stuff down they murder it completely...
Thought on the whole it was pretty well done for a telly thing though...I reckon a big budget Movie series would be massiely popular just the right mix of the weird and the humorous to keep the popcorn munchers happy.
