The joy of low energy bulbs

Yay! I got to paint for the first time since August. (Except for one very quick attempt to paint spray-paint.) I had most of yesterday available so I painted half a dozen Vikings to table-top standard. 30 odd done, about 40 to go, then a bunch of shields, then banners, then basing. All this just to sell them on ebay so that I can buy new toys to paint :)

But anyway, onto the subject of this post. I finally got around to getting a low energy bulb to replace the mini super-nova that used to be screwed into my desk lamp. What an incredible difference in comfort! Especially for an extended painting session. I can\'t believe I never did this before. So to anyone out there still using 40W or 60W bulbs, rush out now and replace them!

Wow that\'s pretty good table top standar :p Great job on them. And if I ever replace my halogene lamp I\'ll look out for low energie bulb :D

These are looking really great! I can see a whole unit of 30 or more being really impressive on the tabletop.

I agree about the lighting, too. I used to have a couple of 60W plain-ol\' incandecent bulbs, and my eyes would really start hurting after a couple of hours. I picked up a couple of 15W halogen desk lamps (gotta love IKEA), and they\'ve been so much easier to work with, and the light is much cleaner, too.

....hmmm... i\'ll be going to ikea tomorrow then, i guess...this 60W single source lighting has been killing me for too long....

Thanks - I tend to use a 60W daylight bulb in my lamp, which has one of those long armature-type necks.

It not only burns holes in my retinas, but it\'s quite heavy so it\'s singed my hair a few times too.

Cheers for the advice, I\'ll try a low energy bulb as soon as I get the chance, anything that\'s better than what I\'m using at the mo\'. :)

@kmdl1066 - Have to agree...that\'s dang fine tabletop standards. ^_^ My showpiece minis probably don\'t end up that nice! :p

I\'d been using the halogen lamp that is suspended above the dining room table in my house. Think the sucker must be something like 75w or 100w. I just bought an Ott Light (they were on a 50% off sale...yay!). I haven\'t been able to use it enough yet to really jump up and down for joy or anything yet, but it\'s going to be SOOOOOOO much nicer than the halogen with summer coming up.
