I\'d really like some criticism and comments, especially with regards to his NMM armour. Thanks a lot ! I am quite pleased with how he turned out actually, I had to sculpt a face helm for him as his face was quite badly miscast. I think I may have seen too many Jason/Friday 13th films though!

looking to improve

Hi all, I hope you are well. Just wondered how I might go about improving this chap - as at present he is only on a 5.5 (about tabletop quality). Now, I was not expecting 8\'s or even 7\'s for this fella but I admit I am a little dissapointed with the score he is currently on. Any suggestions/criticism would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks very much !

i shall be as harsh as i can to help:

the nmm is a little off (reflections seem wrong) in a few places. not being very good at nmm, i can\'t give you much advice

the blending isn\'t the smoothest and the robe seems drybrushed

the crosses aren\'t that sharp. not bad but the ends of the one on the robe are a little rounded. the cross onthe shield is quite good but slightly off centre

the base is a bit naff. if a fig comes on a pre-cast base, i remove them as a habit

the gold on the spear seems an odd choice. i would stick to the iron nmm

the gloves seem a little rough and could certainly do with some dark lining between the fingers. also between the right hand and the spear

lastly, the hockey mask, although good, seems totally out of place! i would maybe use rectangular breathing holes, and shape the rest of the helmet a little more:

hope this helps. i\'d vote him at 5.5 or there abouts myself tbh. not bad overall but lacking finesse. mud aint bad btw, although maybe slightly less on his shield

Thanks very much for that Freakinacage, that is very helpful advice. The gold on the spear, in retrospect is probably a bad choice I agree. The base is also pretty naff lol and it did come precast on the base, so I will bear that in mind in future. Yeah, with regards to the hockey mask, it does seem a bit odd, but my scultping skills are terrible and I would love to have been able to sculpt one like in your image ! Anyway, thanks very much for your comments, they are extremely helpful - back to the drawing board for me ! Cheers !

here is a link that shows you how to sculpt knights helms. the scale is different from the miniature your painting but you\'ll be able to sort it out.
