The Liche King

After many weeks of trying new things and pushing myself beyond my comfort levels, I finally finished this guy...

LicheKingFinal.jpg

Here's my version of the beautifully sculpted Liche King by Mad Puppet Miniatures. I painted this as a commission for a buddy of mine who wanted to use this for his Wight King Battle Standard Bearer. There's a bit of a story behind him as well.

This deathly figures is supposedly one of the many warriors of Chaos that was led by Vardek Crom wandering into Sylvannia after the Storm of Chaos campaign and never being heard of again - possibly even Crom himself, Archaon's most trusted lieutenant! This being of death now roams the ghostly lands of Sylvannia, extinguishing any life it finds...

Let me know what you think and what I could improve upon, I value any feedback. I'm at the mercy of the onlookers! C&C is always appreciated!

Feel free to vote for him here!

All the best,

Jake

very dark and moody the blending and colours for me are spot on, reach round there and give yourself a pat on the back. puts me in mind of lord soth the death knight in the dragonlance books.

oh im voting a 10 for this one.

its nice, but the osl isnt working for me in places.

the eyes of the skull on the standard - the "glow around the socket isnt convincing b/c of the angles involved, and because of the dark recesses of the eye. if you left them as bone it could work as a faint glow in the socket as is.

the shield where illuminated by the sword looks darker than the rest of the shield (because you painted a contrasting color on top of the shield color. to fix this i would darken the red areas of the shield and instead of overlaying the blue color, blend the shield in to blue with the same pattern. alwas make the area closest to the light source the brightest.
