The (Official) Golden Demon WIP Thread

This thread is for anyone who wants to throw around ideas, WIP photos, concept sketches and praise/advice for the above.

For instance, DennisMech will be posting the wonderful concept art from his Defiler. Right James? :D I\'ll also be posting various concept sketches of my entries and once I can ink it in a bit, the Snotling Warboss sketch will be appearing soon.

Anyone else who feels that they would like feedback on their ideas or pieces, post them in this thread. And if you\'re one of those people who like their entries enshrowded in secrecy you can at least help out those in need of advice.

Here he is, King Smallrik of the Snotlings (The name is a spoof of a dwarvish character who also goes into battle being carried, picture here)

Also to be included in the model will be a musician and a snotling waving an impromtu banner (an orc\'s boot)

I\'d also like to note, I can draw, I just don\'t when I\'m doing quick sketches.

That looks pretty impressive!! Wonderful colour scheme. I like those bases! IMO bases looks better when they\'re \"built up\" a bit and not too flat. Good luck in the competition!

Cheers, Anders

Nice stuff there Mordred. The freehand flames look great as does the pheonix on the back of the leaders cloak (from what I can see). The colour scheme is working very well.

the one thing I noticed, really just nit-picking, is that the winged crests on their helmets seem to go traight from black to red. It seems they could use a bit of blending or at least an in-between colour. Then again, it could just be the photo, or it might just be a partthats not yet finished.

Good luck at the German Demons.

Oo Mordred this looks very nice. It would be cool if you could bring a Golden Demon award to Antwerp :D

that would be cool but also impossible ;)

the black - orange parts on the helmet are abit smoother in real, the should be blended enough.

The fact that you noticed it\'s a phoenix means ( at least for me ) that I did a good job :p

everything is finished now, can\'t wait to depart for Köln

thanks ! I\'ll post some of the finished piccies on my account as soon as I have access to a better digicam.

(hint, hint, corvus :D )

Well I got my order today and spent hours working on the various projects.

-The Zombie Knights are almost completely asembled. I still need to mount the musicians drums and give him another \'whacking tool\' and I need to get the banner bearer sorted out. Also all the horses outside of the champions (which looks so wonderfully evil and awesome) need to be put together, and all of them (including the champions) require sculpted chainmail which will go over their legs.

-The Snotling Warboss is only going to be carried by a single snotling, however the rest of the project has gone smoothly.

-The Bretonnian Ranger is going together well, however I may need to fully resculpt his legs to have him fit on the horse.

I\'ll get pictures up sometime soon.

It\'s looking awesome Owen. Nice subtle conversions. I assume this means you will be making the cross sountry trip to Toronto? If so my quest for a daempn just got a little harder.

Pictures!

I really need new lights for photo\'s darn it!

Anyway here you can see the current state of my Zombie Knights (sans Standard Bearer, he\'s taking a swim in Orange Cleen) and my Snotling Warboss (note, the carrier is missing his hands which need to be re-attached).

the zombie knights look interesting, especially that horse is looking very nasty :)

I guess I have to see the snot-boss base completely, because it looks like a bunch of dancing snotlings at the moment :)

Thanks about the Knights. The Banner Bearer will be carrying the banner from the beastman box set with a huge torch on top and two on the sides.

About the Snotlings. The Warlord (pictured in the middle) is on a plank of wood which is being carried by the Snotling in the middle of the base. The two other snotlings are his \"followers\" one has a little flag and horn and the other one will have his spear made into a small banner pole and he will be waving around a pair of orc boxers.

And as I\'m still interested in knowing, how did your Pheonix Guard fare?

Looking good FVC, I\'m also doing zombieknights, taking me forever though. And they\'re a bit less zombieish in some cases. I\'ll post pics when finished painting.

Like the horse alot !

Owen: Great, a Nurgle warband, looking forward to updates ! The priming looks a bit thick.

Yuh? That\'s actually a thin layer of ink and a bit of paint...The metal is still showing through in places. I haven\'t actually primed him yet, I just did that to to get all the cracks that the pimer won\'t.
