The Official Paint-Off Challenge Thread 2

In the beginning, there was a semi-joking challenge made by reverend to crazyboyae1, which set this whole ball rolling because I adopted the idea, and it became popular.

The rules:

1: Challenges are to be 1 person vs. 1 person, unless you\'ve got some strange thing for complications of the logistics of getting three people to paint the same mini by a deadline.

2: Challenges MUST be issued and accepted publicly (though you may feel free to prod for a response by PM\'s).

3: Both Challenger and Challengee must agree which miniature(s) is/are to be painted.

4: Once a starting date is agreed upon between the participants (this should also be announced publicly, as it\'s hard for one person to keep track), the contestants have 28 days to complete their miniatures and submit them to the referee (that\'s me) for anonymous posting.

5: Unless agreed upon by both participants, there should be no WIP images posted prior to the completion of voting.

6: Voting is complete when both (or all if you\'re crazy enough to exceed 2 people, as per rule 1) submitted images reach 50 votes.
-- At this time, at the discretion of the submitters, the Referee (that\'s still me) will either append the artist\'s name to the images in his account, or will remove the images from his account entirely, so as not to confuse anyone as to the identity of the artist.

7: All submissions shall be e-mailed to the Referee\'s account so that he has a consistant place to find them.

Are WIP\'s banned period, or can we do them on other sites?

If you and your opponent agree to posting WIP\'s before the voting is done, knock yourselves out.

It ruins the anonymous quality of the competition between you both, but ultimately, that\'s your outlook.

I honestly couldn\'t enforce it, anyway.

should be an interesting one to vote on as both are completely different from each other.

idea for the banner prize mentioned in thread 1

its rectangular, witha cave wall texture, with litle alcoves spaced equalt along it, witht textboxes beneth each alcove is a text box. when someone wins a challenge, they are emailed the banner, plus in one of te alcoves there is a skull, and you can type the losers name in under the skull, like a trophy. more challenges=more skulls. i know this is probably impossible, just an idea

i have three additional ideas:

1: after the voting is done, keep the names of the participants in the first post, and change their name to a link to their entry. maybe even color the name of the winner too.

2: post a link to the other entry in the text on each voting page. this will make it easier for people who come across the mini to compare the mini\'s.

3: post a link to this thread in the first Paint off thread, both on the first post, and the last post.

I feel a need to say something.
I am happy to take all the credit for the fun everyone is having with the Paint-off Challenges.
However, any blame for excessively bad behaviour should be squarely laid on reverend\'s shoulders for giving me the idea.

Graphics style? I don\'t know if they deserve that much credit. This whole contest is a pretty cool idea, I would have liked to see the initial challenge take place though.

Of course I\'d like to see more consequences attached to the losers. Maybe something like attaching something to your sig for a month. Like \"I lost my challenge to Scott Radom and now I thin my paint with tears of defeat\". Stuff like that might be fun.

You cut me deep, real deep. I would say you should give me a break because I did that with the little thumbpad thingy in this laptop but the truth is that really is my \"A\" game.
