The pain

[Ritual]

Last night I was assembling a mini and managed to bury my modelling knife deep into my thumb. I bled all over the mini and went to put on some band aid. Some twenty minutes later when I was attaching pins to the heels for basing I managed to stick one of the pins in question (which is 1 mm thick) through the band aid and into my thumb about 3 mm from where my knife had entered. I bled all over the mini again and got blood all over my pin vice as well as on the base I\'m going to use for the mini. Now my thumb is sore and it hurts when I type...

Hum ... let me see. I \'ve been :
*) glued just about everywhere on my hands;
*) poked;
*) cut;
*) drilled;
*) pinched by a vice.

Now that was miniature related. Other wise :
*) cut my hand open while slicing a piece of cheese (that\'s my french side );
*) almost split open my head on a marble fountain;
*) half choked on a Lego piece (I was young );
*) took a fridge on my foot;
*) skinned my right leg while roller-blading;
*) ...

But never broke a bone, and still no bee stings ... I will survive .

Hmmmmm

And here I thought I was the only bungeling idiot among us.....I have been cut in nearly every way possible. It all started as a small child when for NO reason I decided to cut the back off of a button....(NO idea why)....I still bear the scar on my knuckle. Though I am happy to report I have now learned that if I drop and xacto knife it falls...I no longer attempt to catch it......

Ouch

I was once cutting a slice of bread form an unsliced loaf with a very sharp bread knife. I was about 11 at the time. I wasn\'t paying attention to what I was doing probably arguing with my sister when I thought that my finger felt a bit wet. I looked down and saw that I had sliced into it very deep.
Quick trip to the hospital, half a dozen stitches and one scar that I still bear to this day.

my brother filled my navel with superglue when i was sleeping. Did you know that when superglue dries it gets hot.

Where I work there has been lots of nasty accidents (due to woodworking machinery). People have cut bits of fingers off, fired nails into there fingers, drilled themselves, the list goes on. I think the worst one was when one guy caught his finger in a pressure clamp (lots of pressure) and it ripped part of his finger off, OUCH. Luckily nothing like that has happened to me and touch wood it wont.

Wow, I feel really coordinated - I\'ve never cut myself. I do manage to glue myself to the mini almost every time, though.

I still love a friend\'s story of superglue disaster, told in more detail on another thread (but I\'ve forgotten which!). Suffice to say he squirted superglue on his shirt, and discovered both a method of blinding himself and a new variety of hair remover.

I agree. That even beats me glueing my beard to my calves (or was it my foot? Not sure anymore).

sorry man, that sounds pretty crazy! how in gods name did you manage that?!

as for mini related injuries, i managed to hold the tip of my glue gun the other day (that stuff sticks like napalm!), i have lost sound of the number of times i have stabbed and/or cut myself with knives/drill bits/spikey model bits and i am messy so i have stood on a good number of models as well. oh, i also managed to knock over a bottle of superglue in my sleep once - when i woke, the carpet and a belt had joined in one big clear resin blob!

tom, you should be careful saying stuff like that - talk about tempting fate! as part of my job, i have seen loads of injuries like that (mostly amputations) but the best was a chippy whos \'mate\' had nailed his 4th knuckle to a piece of wood with a nail gun! wasn\'t as messy as you\'d think

Superglue stories again!

OK, most of you already know this, but I managed to glue my entire right forearm to a glass table once, while at the same time my left hand was glued to a glass. My only means of escape at that moment was a scalpel....

Reassure me Shaz, the scalpel was for the table and the glass, not your forearm and hand I hope.

I do have both my arms still, but I did lose a very thin layer of skin off my right forearm as I got it off the table! The table was very easy to clean up once I was off it, cos I could walk to the bathroom and get my bottle of nail varnish remover. lol

have i mentioned i just had a life threatening accident only last week? was cutting bits of plastic off a sprue, and wham! scalpel in my thumb, almost slicing the meat off my joint....7 mm deep, about 15 mm long...auwyauwyauwy...bled like crazy ofcourse, took 2 days to close...heh. another battle scar to brag about to the young \'uns.....

I wanted to take a pic when it happened, but decided against it

Good idea! I did take the picture once and posted it, which in turn made TooShy
and lot of others almost pass out once they realised it wasn\'t red ink. A lot of sensitive souls out here get all swoony(not a real word) at the sight of blood.
