The Red has to go!

Hey guys,
here\'s a pic of my current WIP. My problem is that I really want to go with the dark blue/cream theme but I think that a third colour is missing. Something to pepper up the paintjob. As you can see I tried red but I\'m pretty unhappy with it. As much as I dislike to repaint those areas, the red has to go. Now what? Purple, mint-green, orange? What should I do?

How about you do them in metallics ? i think it would look good ( and leave the tabard in red). otherwise orange would seem to be a logical answer as it is blue\'s complementary color, and it would brighten up the dark feeling the mini as. But actually I\'
m not quit sure about orange and I like the dark looks, so I duno. Don\'t think green would work though

gold! gold is a natural complement to white and blue, due to the warmth of the colour...you can do it in metallics, or even do them nmm styley, but very yellow, instead of brown. Athough you\'ve got real metals on the model, a small amount of nmm style stuff will look like painted on detailing, and won\'t look out of place at all....

Gold was my suggestion as well... so I can only second Tammy\'s advice. I think both nmm style gold or metallic gold would work.

I thought about gold as well but I wanted something else because I already used gold in the metal parts and NMM and metal in one figure? Mmh, not sure that would work. But also, if I did that what about the tabard? Leave it red like frenchkid said?

nah, do it cream too, but have a slightly different tone of cream, maybe with a little grey in it, to make that tiny bit of difference in texture with the armour. Believe me on the nmm bit, it does work, painting it yellow and highlighting like chrome style will bring the rims out, and it won\'t look like metals, but more decorated armour.....oh well....

How about bronze working it up to nearly silver on the highest points so it looks very tarnished. I\'ve tried it on a couple of IK minis of mine and it works quite nice.

Alright, I\'ll paint it gold NMM and I had an idea about the tabard as well when I saw one of the RRM orcs. What if I painted it like tartan? Sure, it\'s not exactly Menoth but it would be something different and I could keep the red. What do you think?
