Not necessarily painting related (except as inspiration), but barbarian/Conan fans need to check this out - a preview of the soon to be released issue one of the new Conan comic. Page three had me jumping out of my chair cheering.... THE RETURN OF CONAN!

At issue 7 the comic is coming along quite nicely, and they are ignoring the crap that DeCamp and Carter wrote thankfully. For those of you fellow Conan fans who share my disdain for the \"writing\" of DeCamp and Carter, the link to follow is very informative and supports my stance on their Conan pastiches.

Only Conan I ever read was \"The Hour of the Dragon\" (Howard\'s only novel in the series) and I thought it was great.

I have never been much into comics but I see these are by Kurt Busiek, and I once picked up the Astro City GNs and could not put them down. That was some of the best comic writing I\'d ever seen. So, it looks like Conan is in good hands.

I agree with our Barbarian King...

The comic is coming along nicely, and I have been enjoying it.

The art is wonderful, as are the story lines.

CONAN RULES!

The moment that really showed me this series is true REH Conan is in the current issue. Conan takes vengeance upon two men, and there is no pointless speech or witty banter- he just kills them. Conan (as written by REH) is a man of action - and many other attempts at Conan are filled with stupid dialog during battles, etc.

Yes, Darkhorse is doing it right. They are also releasing re-colored versions of the classic original Conan comic in trade paperback form. Great stuff!

wish I\'d seen this earlier, I used to have loads of \"Savage Sword...\" comics, might even have a few, tucked away somewhere, found a Conan candle in an old suitcase a couple of weeks back, I\'ll have to take a pic & post it, he now resides in my \'studio\' & watches me paint :D

LOL - yes I am a bit \"predictable\". Thanks for checking out my stuff! But hey, my current project is a snakeman (still a Conan-type theme but not a barbarian at least!)

Gotta love Darkhorse. Gotta love Conan. I grew up on the old large format Conans along with Creepy and Eerie.

That\'s pretty cool - and pretty old I bet. From the 70s? And I thought I had seen everything put out as Conan merchandise...

Don\'t forget to get Issue #0. The preamble is great. (Won\'t ruin it for you, but there is a pun in there)
