As for charges, I don\'t think she needs to do jail time or the like, but I do think the fact that a whole department was put on overtime, helicopters (and their fuel) were put into the air and a ton of people were stopping their lives to help look for her. Yeah, I think she should pay.

Maybe I\'m a bastard like that. I believe in consequences for all actions, good or bad.

Hang the bitch!

I still maintain that the level of police involvement and the cost of the search was not a direct result of her deciding to disappear just before her wedding.

As someone pointed out. If the family hadn\'t had money and gone to the press, the cops would have spent a lot less on the search.
I would say it was negligent of her to not tell anyone. She could forsee there would be a search. So she could be sued by the city, but I wouldn\'t hit her with the full bill, just the amount they usually spend on a missing person during the time between her officially being missing (24 hours I think after last seen) and when she notified the police she was ok. I\'d guess that\'s only a couple thousand at most.

Oh, and to be clear, she committed 2 crimes - or rather the same crime in NM and GA - false statements to police.
NM will not prosecute, GA may, but they can\'t make her pay money, just put her in prison, and that won\'t help anyone.

cold feet?

Why the hell didn\'t that so called \'loving fiancee\' just buy her a pair of socks?

There are many socks that are insulated, heck, I even have a pair that is heated via a battery pack.

That poor little gal had to ride the bus clear to New Mexico, just to warm her toes.

Its a shame really.

(i didn\'t miss the point of this, did I?)

I think the media should be prosecuted for spending so much time on the story. Was it a slow news weekend, or what? Gee, it\'s not like there\'s not a war on, or something!

hello supervike! great Great GREAT to see you back!

she was stupid...but he is a few fries short of a value meal himself

\"shes so wonderful....i cant wait to have children\"

yeah so if a wedding made her run to new mexico...kids will make her run to canada.

Welcome back Supervike.

And yes, I agree with you Becca. I was yabbering with someone here just a few and it was brought up that \'she must have been abused by the fiance\' is coming from some camps and I have to say, if that is the case, the woman has just THROWN herself into his lap now as she has made a real dumb bunny of herself and no one is going to want to be around her in my opinion.

That being said though, I don\'t know, nor really care if that is the case. The whole family is going to be under scrutiny now, everyone is bound to come up with conjectures. Ack.

Oh, and these I found rather funny, if tasteless.

$300+ for a piece of toast.

A piece of toast.

I\'m going to tell myself this is all a result of sham bidding. The alternative is unthinkable.

Odds are it isn\'t. I was watching a piece on a Las Vegas casino that does bidding on odd things such as this and they use it as a tax write off and as publicity.

The one that I remember the most was the woman that was selling the monster in her sons closet because he couldn\'t sleep so she slapped him on ebay and asked that whoever one please write him a letter telling them that they got the monster and were dealing with it properly.

I believe she got a little over $70,000.
