The Skin of a Vampire

Hello mini painters, and fanatics alike. ;)

I have a couple of vampires that i want to paint. In fact, I\'d like to do a good job on mirroring the correct type of evil.
I have a Melkhior, and i\'d like to redu my Lahmian vampires, along with the vamp queen Neferata. (gamesworkshop line, VC) I\'d like to use two different skin types, one to reflect the seductive nature of a Lahmian vampire, and one to reflect the magical persuasion of the Necrarch. (flesh & green tones)

I am having a bit of trouble finding articles on vampire skin tones, with pictures specifically, to help me paint a great vampires. I really would like to see an aticle or two on vampire flesh, with pics. Iv\'e done searches with vampire flesh, and vmapire skin, on the forums here. Vapire, came up with soo many results, i gave up[ after spending a few hours searching, and the painting & conversions thread here has over 33 pages. I cannot spend more time searching. I have minis to paint!
:innocent: If i missed something obvious, sorry, im still sorta new here.

The ghoul/zombie articles i\'ve seen havnt helped much. They do not really reflect, the kind of skin tone I\'d figure a vampire would have. I am using games workshop paints. Help of any kind is greatly appreciated.

If no one can help. Thanks for your time. Mabe i\'ll go with a regular flesh article and work with different colours and tones.

I think you have to give the Necrarch \"fruit punch mouth\".

You would start with a lot lighter base especially for female. I think Jenova does a good tute find here at THIS site.

Hope it helps.

All it really needs is to go lighter, use more of your ligh colour and take up to white maybe on the highest highlights.

To get the colours you want, simply add green, blue, grey and purple into your flesh colours to give them that undead not quite human feel, also you can use glazes and washes of those colours.

i worked on a vampire with shadow grey and codex grey, then fortress and space wolves, then a light purple-codex grey-storm blue wash... it was nice ^^

Hey, Thanks Fellas

These are some sweet links.
The Jenova\'s link is very cool. I\'m glad to have it in my painting book marks :D.

I\'ll be sure to do some similar scheme as Jenovas, lahmian vampire, with my own. We have the same model, clean and sweet.
The \"alex\" vampire bust, was wicked as well. I gained some gist of it, i do not air brush. I found the adding of warm colours intriguing, and the effective layering. I am sure to be painting very thinly with my flesh.

I\'ll be layering with highlites, mixing flesh tones, elf flesh, skull white, sorta thing, with some green(s). Maybe rotting flesh is the colour, for my Melkhior,

Thanks for the info. I will post pics of my Vampires, and, my recent lurtz  soon, once i have access to a camera, which should be in the next little while. I plan to start the vampires in a roughly a week or so. I like to get a solid plan going, no need to rush the situation. ;)

I\'ll post again, once i start, if i have a camera, any rateing, advice, criticisms will be welcome. If anyone else has links/tips/methods/theories, to post, be my guest.

@Tony Manero I\'ve tried your gallery link, but i\'ve had no luck in finding your vampire.

@NSA Thats a great picture. I\'ve found it inspirational.

@Tim If you are about, the links is superb, iv\'e imagined layering in such a degree, but never have wintessed it.

It\'s been awhile, but heres the update. A bit distracted with other projects, putting this one off. I am started on the first vampire, basecoated the skin of the first lahmian GW\'s elf flesh, the dress is beastial brown, while the top is snakebite leather. I\'m trying a jade skull on the wand, dark flesh on the frillies, a light brown.. or bleached bone (in many of the colors, as a highlite.) on the grament trim. I\'m begining the highlites on the skin as i prowl the site. Elf flesh and Skull Wite mix. roughly 3/4 skull white, and a final highlite of SW afterwords.
thanks for the advice and attention. I must do these vampires now, sinse i am planing on entering Melkhoir in a local competition at the end of this month, and i want to finish the other vamps beforehand.

Unfortunately I don\'t have a proper camera yet, or acess to one, aside from my webcam. But I will post a pic of the mini.
