I haven\'t had cable television in about 6 years now, and whenever I walk in a room with a TV on, I walk back out. It\'s not that shows are awful (though they are) its the commercials. They seriously drive me insane.
If you went to the doctor for everything the medical commercials tell you to, you\'d have bigger med bills than a med student. Every commercial talks down to us, no matter what side of the pond you\'re on.
Hence, I buy all my shows on DVD in nice boxed sets: Jeeves and Wooster, House M.D. (Yes, I love Hugh Laurie, move along), Ghost Hunters, Carnivale, Rome, and Earth 2 (my wife loves Tim Curry). I dont know if any of those are \"stupid\" per se though.
I do watch Hell\'s Kitchen/Kitchen Nightmares, but thats just because its my mother-in-law\'s favorite show.
as far as Ghost Hunters goes, I totally respect skepticism, but I was a sailor for over ten years. EVERY sailor believes in ghosts, and most have seen them. Its just part of life at sea. But TBH, TAPS do get a little silly from time to time.
