This is a comparision between 1 gigabyte of storage in 1980, and now.

..thats the HDA (head disk assembly) from an IBM 3380 model J storage device, and the other is a SD card....

Sorry, Vike, but you are outdated. I just bought a micro SD card. About 1/4 the size of that SD card.
:D

But I remember the \'clean\' rooms for those old mainframes.

Big signs on the wall for the differences between a human hair and the head space of that hard drive...

Found it:

That\'s hilarious, first of all. Have researchers attempted to measure the storage capacity of the human brain? Seems like a monumental task, since human memory doesn\'t have a digital analogue, but surely somebody\'s tried to figure this out!

Many people have, but the \"chemical storage\" that our neurons use are not really comparable to binary storage. I have read numbers between 30 Gigabyte and several Petabyte.... I think our brains have about 100 billion neurons. About a third of those is dedicated storage space, so let\'s say we have 30 billion neurons for storage of information. Now, if I remember correctly, the storage of information is a combination of connecting synapses and changing the chemical makeup to a certain degree. How much is this in byte per neuron? I have no idea and I don\'t think anyone else does. How much storage space does our brain have? I don\'t know, but even if we knew a number, how much would a given piece of information use?
In conclusion, the whole comparison brain to computer is off. Apples and oranges.

Hoho, an unintentional pun perhaps? Apples indeed lol

It\'s like the reverse of the old classic ...that\'s not a knife...THIS is a knife!

Everything is getting smaller except us humans . At least I\'m getting bigger anyway. Need to get back on that bike....
