Hello folks,

Once again the Scythe and Teacup has opened its doors for another weekend of painting and we at The Weekend Workshop are going to take full advantage! Come and join me, John Harrison and our tutor for the weekend, Chris Octive and his incredibly unique painting style for a 1 or 2 day painting workshop. Chris will take you through a range of techniques from the basic to the advanced in a fun, relaxed and structured way, whether you’re a trophy hunter or a laid back hobbyist, this is a really great opportunity to learn from someone who has a huge knowledge of both British and European painting styles.

As requested the workshop is going to be split into 2 days, the first day Chris will be teaching how he paints skin tone and on the second day he will be teaching how he paints metallics, Chris over the two days will also be talking about colour theory, the different types of contrast and wet blending.

You can grab the full benefit of the complete workshop and book both days for £70 or if you’re on a tighter budget or have other commitments that weekend you can still make it up for a one day workshop, this will cost £40 and you can either come up for skin tones on the Saturday or metallics on the Sunday, totally you’re choice! The 1 day and 2 day workshops will both receive a free mini to paint with breakfast and lunch, this weekend the free miniature is a Games Workshop Plastic Ogre!

The workshop will officially run from 10 am to 6.30 pm, although both me and Chris will be staying long after 6.30 just to chat, hang out and do more painting! So if you have any questions, want to see how we’ve painted something, or your after feedback on a mini or two you will get plenty of chance to do so!

Items that you will need to bring with you!

Paints

Paint Brushes

A Lamp (or two) with a daylight bulb

Palette (ideally a wet palette)

A scalpel or X-acto knife

Fine grit sand paper/file

Pin vice, drill bit and brass rod

Superglue

Dont worry if you cant bring all of these items or you forget some as we will have some spare that you can lend them.

Overall, the weekend was well organised, well planned and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this to anyone that's interested in learning something new or moving their skills forward. No word of a lie I feel that in one weekend I've increased my skill and knowledge along about a years worth. I know it's nothing without practice so I'm off to do some more right now

A highly recommendable adventure: well organized and relaxed atmosphere that allowed great communication of ideas and for my in particular a very nice consolidation of knowledge and technique
