Indeed the main point I was making was the sentance of only 2 years. The guy admitted his guilt, the defense agreed he knew what he was doing and the difference between right and wrong but that he was of \'lower than average\' intelligence and therefore should be partially excused.
I got further detailes on the late news... It didn\'t occur in one assault at 7 weeks but rather started when the baby was 4 days old. When the baby was first brought home he would grab it\'s legs and feet while squeezing them and twisting them to make it cry so it\'s mother would come back into the room... He would yank it around by one arm, again to make it cry. It stopped at 7 weeks when social services got wind. The hospital workers testified that noone could consol the crying baby because it could not be picked up and held due to the excessive number of broken bones, it would only cause more pain.
The two years should have been reserved for the mother who is IMHO to stupid to have children (not her first kid either, they were saying child welfare took the baby and an unharmed 2 year old from the home).
Further to Highbulp Billy\'s thoughts on fatherhood, I do think this sort of thing hits home much worse on parents. I know my wife burst out crying upon hearing/seeing this (doesn\'t help that shes pregnant with kid 3 for us), and while my reaction has been mostly reserved to posting here I must say it\'s things like this that remind me why I didn\'t go into the police force (cause I know if I were the arresting officer I\'d have flipped on the guy).
This makes things like what happened to me last year (for those that didn\'t read my recent post but care too you can find it
here) seem a joke in comparison, what could I hope for as a fair sentance in comparison, the guy gets rewarded with a new house the catch being it needs a new roof?
Sadly there is no worse punishment than death for those that do things like rape 6 month olds, but a good dose of torture and beatings can\'t be all that bad a start.
