I like where you\'re going with these James, the death guard guys great.
It\'s interesting for me to see how you work, your method is so totally unlike my own, it seems kind of random.. Do you work across the mini doing the bits you most fancy at the time? For me, going back and doing all that black lining would be a killer, but it seems to work for you. You continue to get better with almost every mini I see from you.
Lets see more of the death guard squad.

If i feel like my weathering is going well on any partcular day ill ry to get that done as soon as possable as later on i may not have the patience to do it as well again. so yeah i just paint the bits i want to, though thishas led to a mountain of half painted lead!

Keep rolling, er, crawling... I have to say though, the littlel blue fella is almost distracting. He is very bright relative to the rest of the defiler.

Okay so i may just have time to finish one entry for GD. I am about 65% finished on my Gandalf. What do you think about it so far?

I have to ask: Is the shadow under the brim of the hat painted? If so, brilliant. If not, you may want to do it that way

no it isnt, but i dont want to paint it in as i have got some eyes under there and i dont want to paint over them!

Wow, that Gandalf is amazing! The NMM is perfect, and the robes... definitely your best yet. Extremely well done.

I hadn\'t really noticed until now, but your skills seem to have taken a rapid leap up in the short time you\'ve been painting. It\'s a shame you didn\'t get painting a little earlier because I think you\'d certainly have been challenging for some YB action at GD, but regardless, this is looking great. Final cut standard for sure if you get it finished in time.

There\'s really not a lot to criticise. The tones and depth of colour all look spot on, and the NMM is convincing. I\'m dead impressed!

I know you aren\'t finished, so perhaps you just haven\'t got round to this yet, but I think a little more definition is needed around certain areas, like the join between the beard and cloak beneath.

The dirty edge at the base of the robe needs to be made a little darker too I think, it doesn\'t quite look earthy enough right now.

As for 65% finished, nah! Once he\'s \'done\' I demand that you spend a good few hours meticulously going over every millimetre of him again and smothing over the blends until they are perfect rather than very good, because if you do this will be far and away your best paint job to date.

I have heard people going on about smoothing out blends, how would i do this?

Do i just go over the blends with the highlighted colour again?

Glaze with the mid tone, then you can go over again with highlights and shading.
Its a back and forward process, glaze, rehighlight, glaze, reshade, glaze....etc

Just keep doing it until you have enough contrast and super smooth blends.

I would suggest more variation in the rock sizes. There appears to be one boulder-type and 200 identical pebbles. Look around for rocks in between those two and it should be fine.
