They blocked my game!

The only things that keep me reasonably sane at work are this sight and an internet Mah Jong game I play between calls. They Badwords at work blocked my game! Now what am I going to do?

Anyone got any mind numbing games I can play between calls?

It\'s blocked and I\'m sure as soon as they figure out the other one it will be blocked too. I work for Badwords. I don\'t have any examples, but what about bringing self contained games in on a flash drive? Not sure if you\'re working on a terminal or not but maybe something that stays and runs off the thumb drive. They shouldn\'t be able to \"ban\" it using the regular internet/browser censoring tools afforded most networks.

Sadly if they\'re that hardcore about preventing their employees from having a few moments of fun at work, a flash drive full of games or using a proxy might just garner a pink slip. Some companies are run by real assholes, and call centres tend to be managed by the grade-A douchenozzles.

mmm you could always try sneaking in a nintendo ds or psp or even lil one game hand helds. Or get a nerf gun and shoot your supervisors / co-workers to relieve the stress.

Sadly you are correct. And handhelds are out as well because \"They interfere with the running of our normal computers\". Someone explain to me how a handheld game or a cell phone can screw up a system run on hugh servers in the back of the building. It\'s not like we have ANY wireless connections in the buiding. But they have these nazi supervisors that are trained to terminate on sight anyone caught with a cell phone or game anywhere near the main floor. If I tried to plug anything into one of thier precious computers (built in 1992 btw) I\'d be headed for court I think. <sigh>

Sadly Liz I think you\'re \"Stuffed\".

If the A.R line management are that tight, then they are looking for way\'s and means to encourage staff to either toe the company line or find the door.

From what I\'ve garnered from reading your posts about your employer it seems as if it\'s run (or your branch at least ) by a bunch of stiff necked rigid unpleasant rules lawyers who need depositing in the desert with instructions to walk home.

And while I understand the need to maintain company workload, I also understand even more the need to maintain employees who are alert on the job. Nothing is worse that hitting the \"Nodding Dog\" mode at work, because what vyou are doing is so boring.

They\'ve taken away pen, paper, and cell phones from our agents - and suspended the USB ports on most of the computers.

You ever try to remember a 9 didget transaction number so you can have someone look at it?

Actually yes and you\'re scaring me now because it really does sound like you might work in our Texas center. We do have one in Austin, you know. If so, the chances that we\'ve spoken are extremely high as I talk to every floor agent sooner or later.

I found a video a while back on MSN where there were a group of guys sitting around a long desk, talking on phones and working on thier computers. One guy kept shooting rubberbands at another. The guy that was being shot at suddenly jumped up and climbed over the table, grabbed the other guy, and started beating the crud out of him. It was quite funny. Happy thought for the day??
