They\'ve Changed the Oompa loompa\'s

Right this has really got me angry, as many of you know there\'s a remake of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory coming out, and for some reason the oompa Loompa\'s have been changed from these ultimately cute, funny (maybe slightly scary) guys here

to these new techno loompas...........What the hell were they thinking!

For me the only thing that made the original good was the oompa loompas and thier crazy songs, it just won\'t be the same without them :(

And I think Jonny Depp was an awful choice. It\'s like he\'s stepping back into his wierdo \'persona\' (Edward Scissorhands, Cry Baby), and from what I\'ve seen of the coming attractions he just doesn\'t do it for me.

Ah well, Hollywood has got to go and feck up ALL the classics evetually. :mad:

Have to agree with Markus on this one....as much as I like Johnny Depp...he just wasn\'t a good choice to fill Gene Wilder\'s shoes.

I have NO desire to see this movie...kids will hav eto wait till its out on rental.

and i hadnt heard of it

actually i was quite looking forward to seeing depp as wonka. its going to be radically different from the wilder version, but different can sometimes be good.

it better be good :mad:

sin city is a must see, saw it a couple of weeks ago and it\'s bloody brilliant, don\'t take the kids with you though. Think there are 3 castrations in the movie, amongst other bloody things :p

And I think johny depp is a really good choice for wonka. I mean if his performance is has good has it was in the black pearl then we got nothing to worry about. :p

Well I think Johnny Depp will make a good Willy Wonka - so :p

As for the techno Oompa Loompa\'s couldn\'t see them too well, but maybe they just like black pvc uniforms :D

Actually, they just did \'The Muppet Wizard of Oz\' here in the States a couple weeks ago (TV movie).

Well, Johnny Depp EXCELS at the weirdo persona. I think that is playing to his strengths.

Willie Wonka always creeped me out as a kid, from the boy who lived at the convalescant home (charlie) to the maniacal way Willie Wonka seemed to cherish the thought of the kids on his tour getting killed. The oompa loompas (Wonkas Slave Labor Force) were perhaps the creepiest of all.

well, i am very sad about the oompas...but i think im ging to see it anyway. hopefully it wont be a waste of money.

A slight change of tack...

But skilfully using the Johny Depp linkage...

I heard a while ago that they were going to cast Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones as Johny Depp\'s dad in the next Pirate\'s of the Carribean movie.
