I think I saw a remake of it, but it was a porn movielol lol lol
Back on topic, I think Depp has a shot at pulling it off, although it\'ll be tough to beat the original. ALL of Rahl Dahl\'s (sp?) work is pretty creepy. Ever see James and the Giant Peach? They pretty much all start with the premise that the main characters parents have been tragically, and usually violently, disposed of. Great nightmare fodder.
Willy Wonka ( in Gene Wilder incarnation) was just trying to freak the kids out, well knowing the kid who didn\'t flip was the one with the right mettle... just like the selection rituals fror the Kumari living goddess in Kathmandu in Nepal.
A number of prepubescent girls are chosen as likely candidates for position of Kumari (read more here)
and as part of the winnowing process, the girls are put in a darkened room where people in try and scare them. The girl who doesn\'t scare is obviously the real Kumari, why should a goddess be scared?

Looks like me and DR have the same films on our too see list. Apart from Fantastic Four, I just don\'t have a good feeling about it
As for the Willy Wonka movie,Hollywood remakes and changes everything to make a quick buck. Why come up with and take a chance on a new idea when they can remake a film and know a lot of people will come and watch it out of curiosity and to compare it to the original version.
As for the new Batman movie, it\'s gonna make the original movie look like it was made for kids. This film is far closer to how I imagined Batman to be, Dark.

And then the typical \"kidnap someone close to the hero, so it becomes personal\" ending was downright insulting. Batman is the protector of Gotham City, not just his damn girlfriends.
And they killed the Joker? BLah!
All the sequels are best left forgotten.
BUT, if this one captures any of the dark \'comic book\' version of Batman, it may have a chance. I prefer the Batman from the \"Year One\" books and especially from \"The Dark Knight Returns\" obsessive, moody, calculating, cool.
As far as the Fantastic Four are concerned, there is some hope in the fact that many of Marvel\'s latest movies have been steller (X-Men 1&2, Blade, even Daredevil was decent). I\'ll have to wait an see, though.
I am a huge Batman fan, and have been for a long time. I was a bit disappointed with the 89 Batman film, although it went a long way in fixing the Adam West cheekiness. Burton may be a film genius on some movies, but his Batman movie was a bit too clausterphobic for me. Jack Nicholson\'s Joker wasn\'t as great as the critics had claimed either. I\'d much preferred Peter O Tool or Willem Dafoe. The Joker should be a homicidal maniac, Nicholson played it too controlled for me.

If you do a bit of searching you can find pretty much everything. Reviews from the movie (about 25 now) and leaked scripts, pictures of the top 12 or so characters, trailers, all 11 TV Spots etc.
I\'ve been following the movie religiously myself, seeing it in IMAX on opening day, I\'ve heard nearly nothing (2 bad reviews) but praise for the film, and I\'ve always loved Batman. Plus teh casting/director/writer is ace and it just seems freaking awesome all \'round.

i personally think they all look good, but then again i liked \"kicking and screaming\" and everyone else thought that sucked.

I\'m actually feeling pretty good about Batman Begins. I\'m really happy that they chose Christian Bale and not diCaprio or some other H-wood \"cutie\" du jour.
I\'m not so sanguine about Fantastic Four, but I\'ll be okay with it as long as I don\'t feel like I ought to get my money back when the show\'s over. Last movie that gave me that reaction was \"The Haunting\", and luckily I had a free pass!
