38. Never leave your wet palette out of the fridge overnight in anything approaching warm temperatures. If you do, on day 2 there will be a funny smell, day 3 a slight fuzz, and if you leave it that long, by day 7 there will be a fully developed ecosystem with tiny little bugses hunting the bigger bugses with flint spears and suchlike.

But if you do that often enough you might stumble on the cure for cancer!

49. If you think this hobby is expensive try owning a hobby/game store. (overheard an owner say this when a customer was complaining how much he was spending on his new hobby. I thought it was funny since that store owner is a great painter and has lots of fantastic demo armies on display.)

50. The wife will never know just how big your collection is if you can still close the closet door.

51. When you can no longer close the door to your painting room because of all the models and painting gear stacked therein, its time to admit you have a PROBLEM!:eek::eek::eek:

Problem being: your room is too small :D

I have been idly considering renting the apartment next door as my man cave. Would solve most of the headaches on the spousalabuse front (ie her abusing me) as i could sneak everything into the apartment. The small matter that i couldnt then afford any miniatures might be a flaw in the plan.

Most men that would rent a second apartment ussually do it to hide a mistress. Although I bet the spouses retribution would be the same.

People in my office jumped when I burst out laughing at this . . . they have avoided me most of today.

Small hut on the roof? Perhaps a tent on the roof? Area in the basement? Or extend outwards . . . . . might be tricky through.

53. Size DOES matter! If you think you need a 00000000 brush to paint your tiny freehands, keep in mind, the brush will need something to hold the paint... On every brush smaller than 00 your paint will dry on your brush befor you reach your miniature.

I used to think that my brush with 3 hairs would rule for freehand. Until I discovered this rule. Argh. So I got some retarder like Skel mentioned. It works, but I am just going to work on brush control and save the tiny brush for the future.

LOL, not quite right. ;) I don't use paint retarder, the paint just feels really strange with retarder but that's just my 2 cents. I also think the paint tends to get more glossy if you use retarder, but maybe I just used the wrong ones. ;)
For me, thinned paint and a 0 or 00 brush with long hair and a nice tip (like the ones from Windsor&Newton Serie7) is all that I need. :)
