hey bro

hey bro,

calm down !!!

First, if you are losing friends due to the hobby; just take a break. Friends are more important.

Now, in terms of your work...you may just be burning yourself out. You need to relax a bit and practice, but don\'t let it take over other time for more important things...

Remember that practice is what makes us get better, but you have to make sure you don\'t cross the line...that line between insanity and realizing it\'s a hobby so if it doesn\'t work out; try again later.

Will write more later....

I think, you need to take a break. Do something else for a while but by no means stop painting, we all have tought times but the true tet of strength i showing that you can handle them well.I reaally hope you do not quit painting for that is the day we have lost a dear member of our community. Rest...

Rule #1: Don\'t Panic.

Slow down. Take a break. Either lay of the minis entirely or just take some time converting a few. It\'s a hobby, not a university degree. You\'re not losing money by stepping back for a while. Nobody buys a candy bar they don\'t enjoy... if it\'s not fun, take a breather.

Get a World of Warcraft account and play it for a while. Under no circumstances are you to get any fresh air. It\'s poison.

Gotta agree with Sanjay on this, Sonny...

It\'s a hobby. Take a break and do something else for a while.

Go to school. Pass a test.

I\'m just coming back after a break from painting that was nearly 5 months long.

I\'m not great at painting. Nothing ever looks quite as I envision it. Don\'t sweat it.

Practice when you feel like it.
Go play baseball, or go bowling, or golfing, or sit in front of a 7-11 with friends, or whatever the heck you do, when you don\'t.

The hobby will still be here when you\'re ready to come back to it.

And so will many of we people you know and adore/tolerate/despise here on CMON. :)

I gotta agree, take a break. Take it easy on yourself as well. I never finish a mini i like and those i do like others seem to dislike. It\'s a hobby. If you were doing this to make money and just that reaosn then yeah, get upset about it. The more you paint the better you become. I know i will never win a gold demon but i\'m good enough to win now and again at locla comps and i get a few peopel that like my paint enoguh to pay me a few bucks. But i get burned out all the time and have almost quite dozens of tiems in the last 4 years.

I think I know a little of your plight sonnyslayer, as we have spoken often of this very matter,

My advice is simple

do or do not, never try and force it.

I have seen that you can finish a mini, and you have talent, but you are too critical of yourself. None of us are happy with our end results, but always there is some part of the mini we like, and this carries us on, to our next attempt. How boring life would be if all things were easy.
Only things that are difficult to gain, are worth striving for.:D
May your choice be true to yourself

I can give it a try.. but im wuite sure ill just end up like this again. I can paint low level stuff without problems.. but i when try to paint anything a a high standard or when i try to get better i just screw up.. I have neer been this angry about something like this. Ill put down the brush for a few weeks.. and if that doesnt work. ill just sell all my stuff and find something else to do...

I\'ve been sitting looking at a mini for a few weeks now. It\'s supposed to have OSL, but I try one bit and lose all confidence. Try another bit, and that\'s wrong too. I\'d put it aside, likely permanently, if I hadn\'t promised it to someone else.

I used to keep marine fish, but due to certain events, I found it far too much of a responsibility. What was once a pleasure, had become a chore.

So, paint for yourself. No-one is depending on you to paint. No-one is relying on you to paint, are they? There\'s no \'have to\'. Examine your motives for painting, are they enough to justify your frustration? Perhaps, when you\'ve looked at them, your motives will either have been met, succeeded or have just stopped being motives.

Paint for yourself.

Ha......I\'ve actually found that to be beneficial to my painting..................much more focused now than in the time when just the mere mention of a beer might stop me for weeks..........and girls..........they\'d get in the way too.

Sonny....time will tell. For me, I know I\'ll always come back to this. Whatever will be...............but I still go through phases of high interest and can\'t be arsed.........but i\'ll always come back

Hi, just read your thread. Sounds like you need to find the balance. I know what krom means, but it doesn\'t have to be a case of all or nothing. life\'s just not like that. You gotta go with what feels right, and from what you\'re saying, right now it doesn\'t feel right for you. If the friends you think you\'ve lost are worth it, then pick up the phone and give them a call, your minis aren\'t gonna go anywhere.
Hey, I stopped for over 8 years, or maybe more, I went through the too old for this thing, only now when I\'m paying my mortgage do I realise there is no too old, just what feels right at the time.

Well.......I was exagerating slightly..I am married, but no kids and to be honest I haven\'t painted a mini in a decade, but that doesn\'t stop me collecting, hoarding, dealing etc....:D

I agree with everyone on here. Your interest in the hobby will go in phases just like everything in life. Just because your having a bit of down time doesn\'t mean you should go and sell of everything you\'ve worked on.

I just think you need to chill out. Don\'t chose your mini\'s over your mates. And i really wouldn\'t worry about unfnished minis I haven\'t finised one in 2yrs but i do have 3 or 4 that are only around an hour of work away from being finished. That last stage can be the hardest part.
At the end of the day I\'m just in this hobby to relax myself, if it stressed me out I go and do something else.
I only get to paint less than 1hr every 2 weeks but i love every minute.

Ask yourself why you are doing this hobby? It should be for enjoyment, thats what hobbies are.
I would forget about trying to get better or even about finishing a mini.
I have had two breaks away from painting, the first was almost 10 years and the last about 5 months (yes after a baby! lol).

I hope everything goes ok, both with the painting and in life in general. I hope you will still take part in the forums even if you do take a break.

That sucks Sonny, really. It\'s totally about what makes you happy man. I\'ll let you into a secret, I hardly manage to finish anything, I have the attention span of an amnesiac Goldfish!
It\'s all swings and roundabouts matey, just do what feels right. We all go through phases bud, but I quite like your work!
