Well you\'ve got the new Guard Codex out at the start of May so that will affect the way you collect it. I do know that the basic cost of a squad of 10 Guardsmen has been reduced to 50pts. Factor that into a 1500 point army and you\'re going to need an awful lot of them.
A mate of mine thought he\'d try cheating a bit and buy those strips of figures they do for the Gorgon and split them up. He had limited success and saved a little bit of money but possibly not enough to justify doing it for the whole army.

If you really want trenchcoat/gasmask guardsmen and don\'t mind using non-GW minis how about trying Pig Iron?
They also do heavy and special weapons and command figures You can get seperate heads with Russian style winter hats on as well. As you\'re in the US you\'re probably best getting them from the warstore.

Uber I\'ve got one in the garage. about a grand in resin. And it\'s not 1500 points, closer to 1200 I think.
