This may not be a direct marriage proposal, but close!

If anyone has any words of wisdom for a young man of almost 23, feel free to share. I\'m both nervous and excited for this!

Two bits of advice from an admitted new guy to this marriage thing.

First, on your wedding day, ENJOY YOURSELF. Don\'t get worried if people are late, the tuxes don\'t match or if they play the wrong song at the end of the ceremony (all three happened for me). Enjoy the blips and remember that at the end of the day, you will be married.

Second, don\'t be afraid to ask her what you want to know. If you think she\'s mad at you, ask her if she is. If you\'re still not sure, ask again. If you want something you\'re not getting, ask for it, don\'t make her guess. You may not like the answers you get, but it\'s a hell of a lot better than not knowing, and it will give you guys a fighting chance to stay together.

Good luck and prayers to both of you!

CONGRATULATIONS!

As someone who\'s a hopeless romantic, yet getting horribly jaded at the moment, I have mixed feelings.lol

One thing for your wedding day: I ALWAYS tell people getting married to make sure you eat first before mingling.

My first wedding -god that sounds depressing- my wife and I had to go to Subway afterwards, as all the food was gone before we could have any. We were too busy mingling and saying hi to everybody first.

Make sure you get some food.

I\'ll second this. With all the stress of the day, you won\'t notice how hungry you are until you\'re feeling sick. We ordered room service that night (for the first time ever) and totally pigged out because we just didn\'t eat enough during the day.

OMG, thought it was just me :)

We had canape\'s and then cakes and a \'sweet buffet\' and I think I managed to get one prawn and a slice of cake all day... MAKE SURE YOU EAT FIRST!!!!

Did result in one of the most decadent moments of my life though when my wife and I ended up in a lovely hotel that night ordering curry, burgers and champagne in bed at 1:00am from room service because we were SO hungry!!! :)

<waits for suggestions that we should have had other things on our minds>

Ben

PS: he\'s not even engaged yet, perhaps this is going a teensy bit OT with the wedding day stories :)

Congratulations! I get married in three days on Saturday evening, so I know just how excited you must be! As for advice:

You definitely need to keep this in mind. I\'ve spent the last few weeks reminding my fiancee: as long as she and I are there with an officiant and a witness, then we\'ll be married and nothing else matters. Everything else -- food, clothes, venue, guests, music, etc. ... it\'s all just details. So don\'t lose sight of the one and only important thing (marrying your loved one) by getting caught up in what is really only going to amount to minor details when it\'s all said and done.

Luckily, when it comes to the food thing, we\'re having the wedding and reception in one place in a package deal, and the venue provides a day-of coordinator as part of the package. We were already told, during our most recent meeting with the venue people, that when dinnertime comes, the first thing that happens is the coordinator brings us our meals; once we\'re eating, then they\'ll begin serving everyone else.

Oh, and finally: don\'t forget that there\'s nothing wrong with mixing your hobby into the big day when the time comes! ;)
