This week's installment

Hey,

As was fully expected, people seem to be slipping a little, this is understandable at this point in the project, it's not shiny any more, but you're still a little way away from finishing. So, I propose delaying the next installment for a week, to give people the opportunity to relax a bit, or catch up if they're behind. For those of you still champing at the bit, have a look at these below in the mean time, I learned from these and sitting down with a friend to learn, so hopefully it'll be fun. Then, we'll pick up as usual from then for the last 3-4 weeks.

Thanks all!

James.

Right then ladies and gents, after our week off, and having met several of you face to face (awesome to see your wips in person - post pics up here so others don't miss out :) ), I have finished and posted the next installment, the supposedly dreaded 'face week'. Enjoy!

aargh! disaster! I'm so sorry guys and girls. The last update was due friday, and its still not up. A bunch of personal stuff has gotten in the way. stoopid real life! Sorry. Worse than that, a friend has kindly looked after my camera even better than I could have ever hoped, and taken it all the way to kent in the process...its got all the pics for this weeks update on it :( I don't have another camera that can take good enough pics for this. damnit, if anyone has any ideas then please let me know. I'll get my camera back in due course, and I'll spend the week trying to scrounge one from somewhere. In the mean time I don't have pics of the top hat and tie being sculpted, and I don;t know what to do. Again, I'm really sorry about this.

I'm also aware that noone has updated their wips to the same point as I'm at, so is everyone also behind, oor have people been working on this without showing pics? Any suggestions guys?

Just got back to where there is an internet, so I am even further behind than usuall. (Yes my dude still has a neck but no head or face)
My advice is: Relax and post it when you get your pictures back. Sometimes life sucks and we have to take a deep breath and figure it out.
If your friend can send your pics back to you, via email or FTP or something then great, if not, why stress out trying to borrow a camera to take some after the fact pictures that aren't what you want anyway?
You are being nice and sharing your experience to try and teach us neat stuff, but don't give yourself an ulcer over it. I am sure that no one is going to be upset that your camera went on a field trip without you. This community seems to founded on politeness and concern for each others feelings with a healthy dose of fun thrown in.
Hows that song go again? oh yah "Don't worry, be happy":beerwave:

I know I'm late updating my WIP- I'm up to your last update- doing the face. I'm going to do it tonight if I can find the time. A number of real life issues have kept me from having the time to sculpt.

Also, if you don't mind my opinion, I don't like the new style of the sculpt along. Having to reload the page for each pic is just a little annoying and, more importnatly, it makes it impossible to compare the pics in sequence, which I have to do a couple of time to make sure I have the right idea of how to proceed.

Oh ya good reminder.
I like the new style (or at least have no problems with it) except:
I have to scroll way down the page after each step to get the new step where I can see it.
But hey, if thats the way it is, it's not like I am going to stop playing along with the rest of you.
And it does make it a little harder to compile it all into a PDF for you to distribute as you please.
But if it easier for you to do it that way, don't worry about me, I'll do just fine. You are the one doing all the work, do it your way.

Good to know guys, thanks. i'm still learning about plugins etc. for wordpress...it made it easily 200% quicker though, so I'm tending to like that! I can fix the scrolling down thing by not putting a big preamble (lesson learned!), and would the sequence thing be fixed better if I added a full list of thumbnails at the bottom? (I reckon I can figure out how) - that would enable you to open them at will.

I'm most grateful for the feedback, thankee :)

Hey,

Yep, I got my camera back, and as such I've added the next installment. Hoorah! This one is entitled 'hat hair', where i take you through some of the hat, and ... erm... the hair. marvellous! comments welcome again :) Ive kept the slide show format, partly because I don't exactly mind making it harder for people to rip it off, and because it is so much easier for me to put together. Anyway, I really hope you enjoy the sculpting!
