Thought you could only vote once??

Maybe I\'m just slow about these things, but I thought you could only vote once on a mini? I just logged on and saw this mini on the front page - http://www.coolminiornot.com/53639 and there were two votes for it from the same person. (They left a comment both times so you can see that they voted twice.)

Comments don\'t count as votes. You\'ll have to comment AND vote in order to affect the score of the mini.

*edit* I do think you can vote several times too, though. I\'m not sure if the votes count as separate votes, or if a mean value of your votes is calculated and included in the overall score calculation.

@Ritual - actually, on that particular mini there were two votes with the comments. On one comment, the person voted a \"6\" and on the other comment he voted a \"10.\" He was the last two comments and that\'s how I noticed that he had voted twice.

Heck, if you get to vote more than once I\'m going to have everyone vote for my wereshark - again!

Dawn, you can vote several times on a mini (not sure exactly how many) - I think it only counts as one vote, but it averages your score. So you want to give it a 9.5, vote it a 10 and go back and vote it a 9.

Yes, you can vote several times on a mini. Each vote counts. For example, if you vote a \"10\" and then a \"9\", it counts as two votes of \"9.5\". They can\'t be done in to rapid of a succession though or only the latest vote will count. For example, if you vote a \"5\" on a mini, realize you meant to vote \"7\" and hit the \"back\" arrow, when you vote the \"7\", that is the only vote that counts. Confused yet

However, as someone already said, the score you put with a comment does NOT count as a vote. VOting and commenting are two seperate functions. That\'s why after you leave a comment, it takes you back to the same mini so you can vote on it.

See that! I CAN make reasonable, semi-intelligent and even semi-useful comments when I want to.

Well I thought I understood it until dauber posted.

My understanding is that you can vote as many times as you like, but they get averaged and count as only one vote. So if I vote an 8 and a 9 it counts as one vote of 8.5 from me. If I vote again with another 9, it becomes 8.67. If my 4th vote is a 7, then it counts as 1 vote of 8.25.

Thus I could not vote 50 times for the same mini and have it count as 50 different votes to push it into the rankings.

As said above though, you can leave as many comments as you want but they have no effect whatsoever on votes.

I thought that it had something to do with the time elapsed between two votes.

For instance, if you vote thursday on a mini, and try to vote again on friday ,that 2nd vote does not count. \"it knows\' what IP you are voting from.

Now, if you vote on the same mini, say a month later, the vote will count. I\'m not sure how long the \'wait\' time is, but I believe it is built in to safeguard against multiple ranking increasing votes.

i dont know if its days between IPs voting on the same mini, or votes inbetween the IP voting ....

Those numbers don\'t count as \'votes\'.

In fact, that particular individual may not have \'voted\' at all unless he/she actually clicked on a number in the \'votebox\'.

Really didn\'t mean to confuse you, Vince.
Whenever I catch up with voting, I always go and find all the minis with 49 votes and vote on them. The vote count will increment to 50, so it must count as more than one vote, right? If it only averaged them and counted it as one vote, it would stay at 49, right?

I think I-Paint-My-Knees may have it though. I think there has to be votes inbetween any multiple votes you do.

You mean even with minis you\'ve already voted on?
I know that with your own minis the score you start the posting with is not a vote, so you can vote on your own mini once after you have posted it.
On experiment, I went back to my first and last posted minis and voted on each of them a second time. Sure enough, the total vote count went up. That means I could skew the score by giving myself multiple 9s. I didn\'t think you could do that before.
