Three on the go

Bit of a mish-mash, having real trouble finalising the D
fwarf as I'm not sure what colour to go with on the sleeves. Will do the shield on the back and finish the top of the hammer, tidying up the base. The priest with a shooter is a figure that appealed to me from the off, but his face is so horrendous that I doubt I'll ever get to a finished point. Saying that, I'll probably just give it a go and be done. Lesson learnt. The monk is a bit of a play about with colours. Not sure if the scheme is good, but I'm going with the flow.

Violet? Often a good combo with green. If not maybe an orange-yellow.

Shame about the face on the priest, the coat is looking good.

Bloody hell!! It's like being in 2003 again!! :D

They're really nice actually. The beard on the dwarf's great.... the others look promising too..

Kepp on... er... keeping on :)

Hey, I'll give it my best shot :)

Still pondering the finishing touches on that Dwarf (cheers Einion!), and looking to have a further muddle with that Buddle piece (oh, some great rhyming there :D).

The Dwarf's beard pleases me muchly. It's a bit more contrasted in real ife, so I'm hoping the final pictures in some sort of rigging will pick that up.

Christ, I have been away a long time. Since when did you paint stuff? Let me guess, you're also the fourm's goodwill officer now too.

Paint jobs are looking good. Not sure about that green on the monk though. In fact, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work. Shame, because the browns on him are the best bit of these three. I think it's partly because the highlights on the green are a bit off from the source highlighting the brown. It makes it jarring, as if each bit's being hit by light from a slightly different angle.

Anyway, carry on!

Looking good Rev :)

if the contrast looks good in real life but not too great for the camera try adding a little glaze of a contrasting colour into the shadows of the beard (not enough to change the colour but enough to slightly darken it.)
in this case blue (because the beard has an orangy look to it)

Hi Reverend, a WIP pile, you're not alone there :D

Bung a bit of grey on the dwarf elbow & call him done, he looks geat & doesn't need any more colour, just a little highlight/shade on the arm cloth.

The preacher with the annoying face, you could try stigmata eyes? Religious (sideways) relevance, characterfully horrific, fun to paint!

I like the intesity of the cleric's green, it suggests an increasingly intense orange/yellow light from the lantern to balance it with heavy shadows on the heavily browed face. Worry about lighting precision later & put some exciting colour on for now :)

You can always do the 2 bases to at least feel some forward movement with them, indoor or outdoor intentions?

Cheers, B.

BPI - i was thinking of grey :). Glad I've got some back-up on that. No idea about the bases, likely outdoor as that's the only way i know to do :D

Iono - the green hasn't been highlighted/shaded yet, but the problem is I'm not sure if I should stick with it. Your doubts have caused me some doubt as well. I felt a green would sit nice against the browns I've used, but maybe it needs to be more subtle. I'll have a think about that.

The big man generulpoleaxe - you're right about it being orange-ish, but I wanted a deep fiery chestnut so I'm satisfied. I'll think about your extra shading with a bluish colour. Good words that man.

The monk is holding a lamp so you could perhaps have him on a muddy floor as if he was looking for necromancers in his graveyard to whack with the mace! :D

I do really like the browns on the middle guy and monk.
