After a bit of posting around people liked the concept sketch of the pin-headed barbarian I have christianed Thugore, so I sculpted him out today. The roughing in is pretty much finished so I am gonna get to work on smoothing it out tonight ready for detailing and texturing tomorrow. Heres the roughed in bust....

More pics soon. If enough people are interested I might send this off to Grey Matter Figures to be cast and make it available to purchase.

Here's the next WIP shots, still lots to do, adjust face proportions sort out the eyes (I ordered some steel ball bearings so no more sculpting eyes necessary woo-hoo), ears, details and some texturing. I couldn't stop myself doing a bit of texturing a little prematurely though and I think I managed to achieve a good result with the skin, a simple 6 stage process which looks fairly realistic. When all this is done and baked I intend to remove it from the base and create a smaller base to extend the bust to the top of the chest, then the cloak and bone necklace will be added and the bust completed and sent off for casting.

Yeah this will be cast when its all finished up, its guessing how many to get that will be the problem!! I'll announce it when I'm ready, I plan to start doing all this properly at some stage - bit busy doing the actual sculpting to spend too much time thinking about logos, websites etc at the moment. Plus I just potentially got another commission for an american company. Well edfinately one and maybe two depends on another guy. I have two other busts out and a third in the production queue. Head on over to www.greymatterfigures.com to see them.

Ha, thats a big step forward DFB, nice one :good:

His left eye looks a little higher than his right, or at least the point where the upper & lower eyelids meet is higher to his ear side. It doesn't look pronounced enough to sell me an expression. Am I reading him right?

How much of the pocked skin texture (pores) reproduces when cast? I wonder simply 'cos in places they look a little deep which would make painting a bit trickier. You know that chain mail effect where you end up having to get the brush point into every little hole to stop bits of bare metal glinting out :D

Cheers, B.

So anyway, I hope you like it. I decided to add an elephant man type cancerous skin texture on him add some additional deformity.

GOOD NEWS!!

I am officially releasing this guy myself under the banner of "DFB Studio", this will be my first piece so its pretty exciting. This will be availble from my website but I haven't had much time to make the website look pretty, luckily Freewebs does allow a shop which is where i will be selling it from. I will be trying to arrange for someone to stock this in the USA as well to get the cost down on postage for everyone on that side of the pond. The bust has just gone off to Grey Matter for casting today so it should be available soon. I will be looking be a talented painter to do a studio paintjob, i have someone who might possibly be free to do it and if not i will be looking for one on here.

cheers, Tee and skelettets. I thought i may as well try and sell some of my work whilst I am busy learning and having my fun. It will help with some bills and pay for supplies etc - I hope! Working on a logo at the moment...........

Look out for the Cyborg Daemon final photos sometime at the end of next week as well. I am about to start sculpting some gross tongues for him (two choices)......

I have now got some casts back from Grey Matter Figures and must say they are fantastic! Some of the depth of the detail on the heads stubble texture has been lost, but still looks fine nevertheless. This bust will be available for purchase hopefully on the 2nd August, priced at £20 plus shipping, check the site at www.dfbstudio.webs.com in August, site is still under construction, but I am working on logos and graphics and pretty stuff as and when I can.. Final photos link to come......
