An Imperial Missionary, an ork kommando, and a rabbi walk into a bar...
Well, just the imperial, and I have just blocked in alot of the base colors, but I need just a bit of advice on the blend transistion of the cloak.

I have already fixed some of the blend issues, and tomorrow I will get some 360 shots ups for better feedback.

Well, at the moment it looks like your highlights are TOO light or your base is too dark...
They need to be closer together to look more like cloth, at the moment, it looks like tin foil

Are you going to have the lighting coming from a certain direction, or are you painting normal top-most highlights?

Looks good so far, even though I would go with a couple of glazes of blue to blend it all together a bit better an to subdue the highlights a bit.

Okay, I have washed the cloak in a dark brown, in an effort to keep the figure in the warmer range (the base will be in the cooler color ranges when I am done with it). I have also blocked in the face (though the eyes still need work, as well as blending the flesh).

Thanks for all the feedback and keep it coming.

Questions:
The glaze on the cloak is a bit streaky, should I add another layer of glaze to it? Or do you think that would obscure the highlights?

Looks MUCH better now
Think the pages of the book could do with some light staining (Before or after u add text)

Face looks good, as do the reds.
Coming along nicely I think.

As for another wash...?
I don\'t think so - doesn\'t look that bad in the photo.

I actually did add the other wash, and it is looking sweet (the second wash was much thinner though, kind of splitting the difference).
More photos tomorrow, I am really pleased with how this fellow is coming out.

Need some feedback

Okay, longtime since I added to this but I am getting there. I still need to highlight the metallics and do a little cleanup on the freehand on the book. I could really use some feedback and suggestions. I realize there is a little glare, mainly because I haven\'t varnished him yet.

Edit: Also you may notice the staff looks a bit odd above the right hand. That\'s because the stupid thing broke and I had to drill and pin it back in place. It actually looks a bit cleaner IRL.

I figured out why the pics sucked. Its primaryily because I am an idiot. I gotta remember to use that macro setting. I had it on manual due to my taking images of my new puppy.

Current WIP

I have had this guy for awhile, and have just started on him in earnest. I am debating if this will be my first attempt at NMM. I am losing that debate and it seems that will be the case. DaN, I will be wallowing with you in the morass that is NMM (though I expect yours will be persistently better than my own).

EDIT: Well, not being one to do what i don\'t know. I took some pictures of some hinges on my deck that are somewhat rusty as my reference for this guy\'s NMM. this is the first attempt at this so be gentle,. TBH, I wasnt sure that NMM was the way to go when I still wanted that orky rusty look. I took a more painterly approach rather than an attempt at a fully disciplined approach (lots of wet in wet, though some layerage was necessary as I have to take the new puppy out fairly regularly). for the bayonet, on this inside I used the rusty approach. In the outside of the bayonet, I went with a more metallic look. I think I prefer the rust, but I would love some feedback, as I am still rather on the fence.

Great stuff so far
The barrel is great. The bayonet is a little too blue IMO, but the rest of the gun is ace

Im pretty sure Shawn has painted the same Ork and used SENMM on the gun. Might be able to get some good tips looking at that.

Yeah matty that helped! Gave me some idea of how to work with the bayonet. with regard to it being so blue, it sdue to the fact that I havent washed with with the red/brown of the moment. Thats the side effect of fiddling since I haven\'t had the \"privelege\" of dealing with NMM before.

Isn\'t it interesting the things you see in a photo you dont IRL? I have started taking photos as I go, and keeping the camera attached to the computer beside the painting area.

Update: I have begun what will be the brass rings of the chain bracket. They are a little gold-ish ATM, but I think a wash of green will dull that and give me the brass effect I am going for. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
