Tiger stripes

Does anyone have any good advice (or knowledge of a previous discussion) about painting tiger stripes? I\'m working on a classic citadel ogre at the moment and, on a whim, painted his fur jacket as tiger fur. At the moment it\'s quite basic (vermin brown/snakebite leather base, chestnut/brown ink wash, highlighted by adding blazing orange then watered down chaos black for stripes) but I think it could be better. So, any experiences to share?

Many thanks,

No experience of painting Tiger stripes but a though which might help.
Tiger stripes are in fact Very very very Dark Brown, so you might want to blur the edges of the black stripes with a thin overpaint of Scorched brown mixed with the tiniest amount of Black.
Then you can highlight the black stripe area with scorched brown and a touch of grey to soften the highlight and make it less harsh.

Oh and you know that I\'m gonna have to try that myself now. :D

Thanks for the pointer. At the moment with the tiger skin jacket and big wooden club this ogre is looking too much like Fred Flinstone lol - hence the need to tone it down a bit. I did look through my 11 month son\'s books for source pictures but he only had cartoon ones which only makes things worse

Great, so now I\'ve got to swap the club for a silver-topped cane and find an ogre sized feathered hat lol Not to mention coverting a squad of ogre bulls to be his girls

lol

I\'d sugest painting the orange then painting on the black/brown stripes then coming in with some white/ivory around them.

Thanks,
Jake

Actually, so far all I\'ve painted is the skin, tiger fur and club. I\'m repainting a mini I bought off ebay but was too impatient to strip it first.

*Edit - This is now featuring in a WIP thread. I\'d be grateful for any feedback, suggestions, prompts, critique etc there ;)
