Check out the link below I saw on TMP. It appears Tim Hildebrandt has died this past Sunday. Truly a great fantasy artist.

:~( This is indead sad news. I remember growing up with the 70\'s Tolkein Calanders and the wonderful Hildebrant artwork. :~( He will be missed.

At least he will live on in his art.

Got a Tolkein/Hildebrandt every year for much of the 70s. Then moved on, branched out to general works by the Brothers Hildebrandt. I had (have?) a couple of books of their works, too.

As for Alex Toth - I knew Johnny Quest long before I knew he drew it, but grew to appreciate him for his work on that and others. Another loss to the world of fantasy/sf art/animation. :(

man...the fantasy art and sci fi genre has taken some big hits lately - i too grew up looking at mr. Hildebrandts work. and i can only hope that his legacy will live on and other kids will appreciate his art for years to come.

All things must end. At least these guys had a chance to touch peoples lives.

Make me think what have I done with my life sometimes.

They will be missed but not forgotten. (I have that star wars poster at home must get it out again)

Now I feel even worse. On June 11 my former coach and basketball shooting buddy was hit and run over by a bus after his graduation ceremony. Today was the last day of school and almost everyone was crying, including me. And a well-known fantasy artist were killed on the same day- normally I\'d feel terrible, but I hadn\'t heard of him before, and I certainly didn\'t know him personally. Rest in peace Tim, rest in peace, Quinn.

This is very bad news.

Did anyone get his card set that was released back in the early 90s? I think he and his brother put one out.

Sad indeed, I got to spend a day with Tim and Greg in their studio about 5 years ago. They had just finished the Star Wars Shadows of the Empire card set and I had purchased one of the originals. I actually got to model for the Ogre on the cover of the box for Ultima Online. They were both incredibly friendly and we talked about all kinds of things. They still had the shirt for the 1976 Star Wars poster that the Luke model wore.

Ebon, I have most of their card sets and they both did many together and some separate each. Did you have a favorite painting?

Honestly, All of my cards are stored away back in Canada. I think I have some at my mom\'s in the States. I don\'t remember what I have. But I will be back home (first the Okanangan, then who knows). I will have to check then.
