I normally only get to paint on a Sunday, so It\'s from about 09:30 (10:00-ish) to around 17:00 when our Sunday meal is ready. (Can\'t paint during the week as I\'m usually too tired after the day and drive home).
This of course excludes the run up to Gamesday when every hour not at workor asleep is thrown into the equation.

When able at night ...there is this one bird that sings here every night at about 2:30 am or so. I used to use that to remind me to stop but I also find it would inspire me to finish just a bit more etc...I do a long painting sessions not short.

I usually paint in hour frames. I cannot get anything done in less than an hour, so a full hour is the minimum. Mostly I start painting when I get home from work which is about 1800 up until at least 2330, depending on what time I have to wake up the next day (0430 during the week). So I do it by time now. Before (when I used to smoke) I used to smoke a lot so when I only had 1 cig left it was time to put the beast to sleep. On weekends, I am like Tony Manero, no bath, I eat with one hand with the other I hold the mini and stare while I eat, I piss while paint is mixed so I have to hurry back, my wife speaks and I dont listen, I have complete tunnelvision when it comes to the weekend... so with that in mind, the brush goes down in complete synch with my eyelids...

When I hear birds starting to sing outside and the sun starts to rise I look at my watch and realise I\'ve been up painting too long AGAIN :p

I\'m part of the sore back/eyes crossing camp. (I notice I have a tendency to slouch when I paint, which I try not to do. Any tips for keeping a straight back when painting?)

Also if I start getting unduly frustrated with something I\'m painting, I know I need to put the brush down and go take some deep breaths.

:)

Sit in a lower chair. Seriously. If you get one of those adjustable office chairs just set it way down until the table is about chest-high or so. Forces you to sit up straight.

You could also use a chair that sits lower than normal or a table that\'s higher.
